Additionaly, Amazon.com has the Targus Stowaway Portable Keyboard for Handspring Visor priced at $33.95 with free shipping. There's a rebate linked here for $30 off making the total price $3.95 shipped.

Credit for the Targus keyboard goes to this thread

BTW, for all you ferengi out there the Visor GPS module sells for $100 on Ebay ;)

Does anyone know if the GPS works in color if you have a Prism? How do you get extra maps and do you have to pay for them? I have been looking at GPSs but I couldnt ever justify getting one, but for $50 ill jump on board.....

The Targus rebate says "participating retailers". Does that mean anyone selling it or just those advertising the coupon?

There was a software update abit ago on them and they had seperate versions for B&W and color handsprings.

Anyone know of any amazon coupons floating around to take even more money off the price? like a $10 off of 100 or something similar....I have read many reviews about the GPS not working that well :( Have any of you actually had experience with it? For $50 its worth a shot I think....anyways love to hear from people.....evidently the software was the problem, was that fixed by the update?

I also noticed on the website the news about the software update, but it says you need to purchase some $50 cable to get the update....is this true? how many different maps can you use and how much space do they take up b/c I have 6.5 of my 8 megs used on my prism..............

I read a bunch of reviews on Cnet of people who seemed to like it....so I bit the bullet and ordered...I also added a Car charger for my prism for $13.50 so that everything would work right for the whole trip......I guess the other recommendation taht I have seen is to use a different street map program than the one that comes with the GPS. Any other helpful info someone can provide would be appreciated.

Rebate for the GPS goes to New Rochelle so don't expect to receive it quick. I bought one of these in April when Cusa had them on clearance. Sent the rebate in on May 5th and didn't receive it until July 20th.

Actually that's not too bad, at least you recieved the rebate ;)

I had an Office Max rebate for some CDRs take a little over 3 months to get and various other rebates seem to be lost forever.

I was able to apply a $5 off $35 coupon today, which reduced the price to 92.97, but when the final confirmation came in the email, it didn't show the coupon and $5 off.

The place I found the coupon showed an expiration date of 7/31/02, so I wonder why the Amazon ordering page showed the price being lowered by $5...

Oh well, looking forward to it.

Actually for the handspring module, you can update via program on your visor (like all the other module updates) Upload to visor, run program with module installed

As for map updates.... I dont know

I live in Dallas and the ones they have for far north dallas are a bit dated (we are growing very fast)

The module is pretty neat. Pretty bad luck getting a signal inside, though. (Apartment and office building) After 2 mins outside, you should have a 3D lock.
It does have a power plug on it (not labeled). I think after a search on google or something, I found that it accepts 9V-12V center positive. FYI.

Have fun!

Thanks for the info.....with some software (Map2go i think?) I heard you can plot point to point on roads and then see where you are compared to your path.....the other question I am wondering is how big are the maps? If I am driving from southern to northern wisconsin for 4 hours, this thing is useless if I can only fit a few county maps in the thing...... any info on map size would be appreciated.

The map for my county is about 54KB. My town (70,000 people) is about 26KB. This is for the map software included with the GPS unit. It is several years old, so newer roads are not included. The software that comes with it can do point to point and plot waypoints. That program does not have roads, just waypoints, plotting your path, and direction. The other program has the maps. It works pretty well after you get it calibrated to your location. You can get much better maps at Mapopolis.com, but you must pay for them.

I read that there is no built in compass for this thing....there is a 3rd party software called Compass 5.05 that shows heading alt, and even has a built in atomic clock. Does anyone know if this will work with the Magellan? Any other suggestions on where to get maps from?

I had the same thing happen to me. I cleared my cookies and my history and then went and looked at some other links. When I went back to the GPS module the price was back down to $97.xx.
