linksys Cable Modem Ver. 2 for $50... NO REABTE at Best Buy.

Earlier I posted the same modem for $50 after $20rebate this week@ CompUSA.

Version 2 looks like the routers and hubs to everything stcks up well. So far everything is working well.

If you are leasing a cable modem and you can use this particular one, it's a good price.

TO Automate... sorry for not repling back... didnt even know anyone replied.
I have no idea if it has a web page for diagnostics... not that computer savvy... i just plugged it in and called the cable people and it works.... my friend also has a version 1 of this model and worked all this time without a problem

Good deal if it's with no rebate.

Yesterday I bought the same unit at Comp USA for $69 but I gotta mail in the $20 rebate. I'm taking it back if I can get one from Best buy

Hmmm... $50 to buy my own modem... to save $3 per month on my ATT Broadband Internet account. The savings don't seem worth it - are there any other reasons to buy this modem? Faster? more secure?

I'd like to buy it because it matches my router. Unforutnately I'd like to spend that $50 on a wireless PCMCIA card.

Well, if you have this for at least a year, that is $36, and if you decide to get rid of it you could probably sell it for $30+. It costs me $10 a month to rent a cable modem, so I obviously bought one (months back)......

Let me guess you rent/lease your rotary dial phone as well. Check Office Depot I picked one up for $40 yesterday.

Careful, ADELPHIA cable users, I looked up online at Adelphia Tech center and it mentioned that their system works with A version 1 BUT not Ver 2 of Linksys Cable Modem..not sure if this is true or what models they are referring to, but just noting you should check with your cable company before you buy for compatibility. I would get $5 off for using my own modem, so I will pass for now unless getting a newer modem will add speed?

they're just a bunch of morons. If it's DOCSIS it will work. If you have to, tell them it's a 1.0 to make them happy, give them the MAC and it will work. They call them back and tell them what a bunch of n00bs they are.

really?
my parents have adelphia and I would like to get this for them. But are you sure they will let it work? When I was living there I tried to hook up my Toshiba PCX1100 and they said that it wasnt on the list (Toshiba PCX1100u) was on the list. I told them only difference is the "u" has usb. The techies tried to do it but couldn't set my modem up(I gave them my MAC address and everything..)

I just want confirmation that this will work...

Where are you guys seeing this modem for $50 ? The only one I see here is $99.99.

Is this in the Best Buy newpaper flyer that'll come out tomorrow (Sunday) ?

I'm pretty sure it's over now (unless the drop is permanent, like the Linksys Wireless AP/Router). There's a good chance that your local BB actually temporarily pricematched CompUSA's price with a virtual rebate. That would save them the extra 10% from their 110% pricematch guarantee.

Well, if they've actually tried to install one that wasn't supported and it didn't work, maybe they just set up their network very badly

I wouldn't try it if in fact they couldn't get another one to work. What a bunch of homos.

Just scored this modem for $49.99 plus tax at the Emeryville store in the Bay Area. Price on shelf was $49.99 but it rang up $99.99. I showed the cashier the shelf price and she adjusted it for me.
