I was looking through the ads in the Mercury News, when I saw one for Magnolia Hi-fi. They're having some sort of sale, and they have the Klipsch Promedia 4.1s listed for $199.98. The cheapest I've found these online was at Outpost for $279.99. I thought this was a huge deal, but I haven't called and verified this with the store. To find a list of their locations, check out Magnolia Hi-Fi. They don't have the ad on their website, though. I would get this, but damnit, I need more money, this forum has left me broke.

Well, I just checked out some prices, and you can actually buy it at BestBuy for $299.99. Show them your ad, then they'll reduce the price to 189.99 because they refund 110% of the difference. Seems pretty good to me.

no way ! that's awesome, magnolia kicks ass. went there last time i was home on spring break w/ some buds, it's a nice play. they've got massive home theater setups you can demo, it's definitely a good store. if they've got the the 4.1s for $200 that's flaming hot, gonna check it out today. thanks for the heads up

FrysSux, Anyway you can scan the advertisement for us? I know it is a long shot, but maybe us East coasters can get the price match at our local BestBuys.

If this is true, then it's a molten deal. Can't wait for them to open.

Magnolia Hi-Fi is on the west coast with locations in:

Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner, so I won't be able to scan it. Hopefully someone else in AT can scan it.

Zmatrix - the ad shows a picture of the klipsch promedia 4.1. Also, the store's model info for the product say Promedia4.1, so i'm quite sure it's the promedia 4.1

Hot damn!!! If those pics show the 4.1s, then that is one hell of a good price. I paid $275 for my 4.1 set.

so you're sure they're the 4.1s and not just the v.2-400s ? even so that'd be a hot deal, but the 4.1s would make it FLAMING. that _has_ to be a misprice, these things retail for $299.98

preimptive answer to the questions that are sure to follow with every klipsch thread 🙂 :

klipsch originally had the Klipsch Promedia v.2-400s, which were recently discontinued. they were replaced by the Klipsch 4.1s, which are essentially the same with a new preamp that has a standby switch, headphone jack, and aux in. also the satellites have been upgraded with newer crossovers that fix the midrange hole that the promedias originally had.

Yeah, I'm quite sure. The picture shows the control pod. It has 4 knobs. The v2.400 only has 3. Yeah, it's a steal for this price. here's what the ad says:

Klipsch Computer/Personal Audio System Amazing for a system this compact, this satellite/subwoofer design qualifies for THX certification. hook this up to your computer or TV system and be amazed. 400 Watts of total power. Headphone and miniplug input jack for easy private listening and source hook-up. Includes four satellites and a powered subwoofer. PROMEDIA 4.1

It's possible that they are blowing these out to make room for for the new Promedia 5.1s that will shipping later this month.

That could be a possibility. But I would rather have the 4.1 instead of the 5.1. The 5.1 is supposed to cost like $400, and I just don't have that kind of money to blow. The 5.1 adds an additional identical satellite that is placed horizontally and I think an 8 inch sub. Another big improvement, though, is the use of better spring clips for the wiring.

even if they're clearing, that just seems like a massive drop, there's gonna be a line when it opens at 10am here in 40 min 🙂 especially since klipsch prices aren't known to fluctuate this much. i don't think they're going to wipe out the 4.1s either, the 5.1s in a different class completely so i don't see the need to clear them out. the 4.1s slowly replaced the v.2-400s, but the v.2-400 price was always at $249.98, they never budged even when they were discontinued.

just ranting i guess, getting excited waiting 🙂

There's also something about 6-month same-as-cash program for their sale. You have 6 months to pay for the speakers. Seems pretty good for me.

Mikee - If you look in the back of the paper, they have the color ads and stuff like that. If you look there, there's an ad for magnolia hi-fi.

True...Klipsch prices do not fluctuate. So be prepared for Magnolia to pull the plug on the prices if it ends up to be a mistake. 🙁

The price for the new 5.1 system is $399, kinda beyond the range of what most people would spend for PC multimedia speakers. I am, however, looking forward to the dual 8" sub! 😀

Yeah, the dual 8"'s sure would be nice. But just a bit out of my price range. Do you know if it can handle a DTS Stream from a receiver? Or is it analog?

hmm, i still can't find it. i've looked through all the main sections... cuz i could scan it if i could find the ad.

Mikee - ok, do you see the Russell's Furniture ad? It's like separate from all the other sections. Inside that ad is ads for other places, including Levitz, Longs, Sportmart, and Magnolia Hi-fi. Hopefully you find it in there.

Most of my home theatre came from Magnolia Hi-Fi. Several of my components for my computer sound system came from them as well. It's my favorite store. If they would just serve Mac-n-Jack's African Amber, I'd move in. Customer service is unparalleled...they built their entire rep around mid-to-high quality components and service. And their salespeople aren't dumb (most of them, anyway). Prices are competitive, and they occassionally have a killer deal...like this one.

Then Best Buy bought them a few months ago. They said nothing would change, but it seems they carry more lower-end stuff than they did before. And I think a couple of policies changed regarding extended warranties and replacements.

Still, I would never tell anyone NOT to shop at Magnolia. And if I didn't already have a real sound system for my computer, I'd definitely jump on this.

Is there a way that you could pm by a call to the store from say like a best buy. Staples sales called up the a place when i was pming a place. Is it possible that best buy would as well?

darn, doesn't look like the paper came with that section. all i got are all the fry's ads. maybe it's because it gets delivered to my office instead of me buying it at a newsstand.

Doh, that sucks. Yeah, I get my paper delivered to my house. So that sucks. Hopefully someone else has a scanner and can scan it for us.
