greyskull, I replied to your msg's a few hours ago. Now I see that you don't have your pm enabled. That's probably why you didn't get them.

Can someone justify wheter or not they're worth it? I went to Bestbuy to pricematch it, but left since I didn't think they were worth buying. The Eastern speakers I have now are fine, and I'm no audiophile either.

I think there may be some kind of promotional $10 off $50 or something running at SM nationwide this month. From what i've heard, there's some kinda promotional game where you pick up a card at the counter and every one wins $10 off $50.. I myself was never offered anything, but I may go back with my reciept and ask about it... if you're going to buy one of these, please ask about this promotion and report back

That must have been you buying them as I walked up to the counter at around 1PM today :). I ended up getting the display (which looked unused - the salesman said they had never been hooked up to anything) with box, packing, etc. for $80.99 (10% off) - he even packed them back up and retaped the box. Later today, I went by Best Buy (in Boca), and after fighting with them a bit, got the PM + 10% (against the $80.99), so the second set (sealed box) cost me $71 and some change. Not bad...

Now I have to decide - do I take the first pair back (assuming they'll take them), do a 4.2 setup on "my" computer (if I can figure out somewhere to put the rear speakers), or use one set on a laptop (since all the other desktops already have adequate speakers - for that matter, so does mine - Infinity RS1001s on a Nakamichi receiver - no sub though).

Decisions, decisions...

Hey there Ted...yeah..that was me!!! How funny......I hooked them up last night....all I can say is wow...what a difference...now my next project is buying the cables for my Home Theatre....Harman Kardon AVR 125 and HKST-5's....

I went from no good audio to super good audio in just a day!

Got a set today at Cambridge, MA Best Buy, but I guess I'll stick with my Z560s :) If anybody's having trouble PMing in Boston area, you can have mine for $94 ($89 + MA state sales tax.) You'll have to do a local pick up though (I'm in Norwood, MA right now), I'm not going to ship them.

AFAIK, Saugus, MA Sam Goody still has some in stock (or at least they did on Friday.) Just go to a BB near you, have them call a local Sam Goody to confirm the price, and then tell them to call the Saugus, MA store to verify availability. I don't remember the numbers, but 411 works magic :)

I would pay a nice price plus shipping for a sealed set if anyone was interested in buying one for me!

Just did my PM and I'm pleased as punch! Thanks to the original poster for this deal!

On 7/30 I bought the display model at my local SamGoody for $89.99 - 15% ($76.49) because some toolshed setting up the display clipped the wires to about 2 feet long :( and the manager also couldn't find the warranty card. One hour before, I had bought a set at full price at the BB about 1/4 mile away. Went back today to BB and although I wasn't trying to scam them for the extra discount, they happily PM'd the discounted $76.49 price on my receipt at 110% and I walked away with a $100+ credit to my card. Now I'm trying to decide whether or not to just return the display model to SG, or just keep them and spring for $29.99 on a set of Monster Cable Kit 2.1 wire upgrades...

Only one of the 2 sets I kept work now. One set will not play anything out of the left channel, while the other works fine. I guess it is time to get a replacement. These certainly sound better than the old ATP-3's, which were not too shabby in their own right. Happy hunting to those still looking for a set.

I was thinking of upgrading my MICROSOFT SOUND SPEAKERS, but they sound so great with my SBLive I really can't complaint, the subwoofer that this system came with is unbelieveable. I got it from Fry's when there was a rebate from MS.

anyone who bought these speakers i think a great option is to upgrade the speaker wire that came with the stock set.

the stock speaker wire is 22 gauge u can get 16 gauge wire to work with thme and u can get better miniplug connectors too. there is a tutorial here

http://www.soundwise.org/id64.htm

and its very informative. 16 gauge is about 3x thicker then 22 gauge. and thicker means less resistance against the current and signal going from sub to satellite. meaning in more of the watts are being translated into cleaner sound. i did it for my 4.2 be careful when connecting the ends to the positive and negative terminals as they are fragile and dont like having such big wire shoved in them

i'd like to present an update for socal ppl:

I have looked long and hard for these and all i got were floor models. The places i bought them from were eagle rock and pasedena. I attempted a receipt PM with bb, they wouldn't agree to it as neither of the sg's had it in stock.

here is an update on the current status:

burbank: OOS
eagle rock: OOS
northridge: OOS
glendale: OOS
pasedena: OOS
arcadia: OOS

I'd like to remind you that if you come across a floor model, it has not been used, it has only been plugged into an outlet, the audio has not been used. EVERYTHING is included...just unpacked.

Aznblader, i live in alhambra too! why did you have to buy all of em?!?!?!

I bought a set at Sam Goody in The Woodlands, TX over the weekend. The floor model was still there but I don't know about anymore sealed sets in stock. Best Buy wouldn't pricematch.

I thought that BB had a general PM policy. What reason did they give for not price matching? Were they out of stock in the woodlands SG? If so couldn't you show them your reciept?

Best Buy wouldn't pricematch "because they own Sam Goody." That was the lame excuse they gave me, and although they do own Sam Goody, I never saw why they didn't pricematch. They said that their prices would be the same as Sam Goody so there is no need to call. Basically they called me a liar. I had just left Sam Goody so I knew they had them in stock. I just went back there and picked them up instead of dealing with Best Buy.

That my friend, is an outrage! :| It didn't even happen to me and I am outraged. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7... 8... O.K. I'm alright.

The thing that really gets me about these situations is that the person your dealing with probably just doesn't know what he/she is doing.

Oh, well, I guess I'm just going to have to look on the bright side: I just bought the Klipsch 4.1s in the "For sale/trade" forum! Sweat!

I just picked up the display model from SG in Cerritos Mall in California. I took them home and played a few MP3's and watched Toy Story 2 and I gotta say, these sound like being in a theater. They are unbelievable. I hooked my Altec Lansing spekers to the rear and wasn't real overwhelmed by the 4.2, maybe I'm old fashioned. So the wife gets the Lansings and I'm happy as heck with this deal. I got the Yamaha 5.1 system yesterday from Amazon and sent them back because they had no balls, this has balls and then some.

THANKS for pointing me in the right direction!!

RinkRat, they finally decided to sell them, eh :) They were convinced they were getting more in and said they couldn't sell them.

wow. a month later and i STILL got in on this deal! went down to the local sam goody's just to see if i could get the floor model. they didn't know if they could sell em so i asked if they could call another store to see if they had them in stock. i wasn't getting my hopes up since these have been on sale for almost a month now. The lady told me that the downtown store (here in Sacramento) had a pair and they were holding them for me. Got there and it rang up as $179, but the sign said it was on sale for $89 so they gave them to me at that price. Was going to consider selling them because i thought they were opened till i read this post:

Oh yeah, I'm not sure if it's the demo version. It seems fine right now, but the box looked opened.

If you are talking about the way the packing tape is used on the edges, then don't worry...i think that is just the way Klipsch packages them. All the sets at my local Best Buy were taped around the edges (not so neatly either).

Sounds good to me. Time to get rid of my old cambridge soundworks 4.1 speakers. Woohoo!

Dude I bought one for myself and that's it, more than a month ago. I called up six or seven places and Eagle Rock was the only place that had them, and they had only ONE in stock. I had them hold it for me and ran over there.

Do you go to AHS?
