hey samwise, you wouldn't be able to get 6.2 like this. all you would get is a 5.2. the promedia 2.1s can only plug into the center channel. not to disappoint ya but thats what i got currently, but ive just changed from the 4.1 system to the 5.1 system so now im gonna try this 6.2 thing with my gtxp. also does anybody have a scanned receipt of sam goody selling this set for 89 dollars? i bought two of these from klipsch.com alil over a year ago for over 300 dollars =\.

Although the Sam Goody in Laredo, Texas was sold out (where I live) my brother lives in San Antonio and he picked up a set for me. I called around in S.A.and the Sam Goodys locations still have one or two left at the 89.00 price.

This really is a hot deal, plus I used some credit for Christmas. Final Price: $50.00 yeehaw.

WOOHOO! WOOHOO! WOOHOO! I am so jacked up!!! After calling 5 SG's I hit on the sixth in Chevy Chase, Md. So I marched over to my local BB with the phone number. I was a little pissed @ first because the CS rep called Sam Goody and was told they were outta stock after I just spoke to her 10 minutes before. She called again and got the right person to verify the WERE in stock. BAM! 2 pair @ $80.95 each ($89.95 minus 10%) Total including tax $169.19. Reg price @BB $179.99 for a single pair. Thats called stickin it in and breakin it off. He He He.

Would 2 of these sound better as a 4.2 setup than the using Logitech Z-560s? I can get the Z-560s for $122 at EMSComputing or get 2 Promedias for $191. Anyone care to comment on this?

Thanks.

They also own Suncoast. That's why they sell computer speakers and other small items that you see at bestbuy.

I called Sam Goody again and this time two different staff people told me that the sale goes on til the end of August. They expect to receive more of the speakers with coming trucks. Has anyone had the experience that they called one day and there were none and then the store received more on the next truck? I'm curious if I should continue to try and call to see if they have gotten anymore in. The people on the phone seem to know exactly which speakers I'm calling about before I even tell them. How many people read these forums anyway?!

ARGH! I've searched the entire metro area and there are only Sam Goody's left that only have floor models. The fools at my Best Buy wouldn't PM--big suprise. But i would at least appreciate that they tell the truth when they want to be stingy.. first they say that they don't PM at all, because $100 is 'too much' to price match. Then, Mr. Manager comes and tells me they wont PM Sam Goody because they own it. After finally convincing him to call he tells me "its gonna take 15 minutes before I call 'cause i'm busy" and disappears into the backroom for a while.

Grrr...

hey dolbyd, you said you found a SG in Chevy Chase that still had some in stock? Could you PM me their phone number? Thanks.

I was able to pick up the floor set at the only Sam Goody in Fargo today. They were in good condition, sitting under a shelf so they weren't dusty and the demonstration thing didn't work so they prolly were barely used. Because they were so much cheaper than normal price though, they wouldn't give me a discount on the floor model. They did have the box in the back room though, so if something goes wrong with them I can just contact Klispch directly.

Someone answer his question?

I got 2 Promedias from a BB PM.

The z-560's have 400-Watts of power (188W Subwoofer, 53W each Satellite) and two of the Promedia 2.1's should have 400-Watts of power (2 130W Subs, 35 each satelite). Are two 130w subs better than one 188w sub? Are the 560's satellites better than the promedia's?

Anyone ever played with both setups at home?

I've just read a couple of comments from a review from maximum3d and an opinion at epinions saying the Z-560's sound better than the promedia 4.1's. They both have tested it up close and say the Promedia 4.1's don't come close to th Z-560's. I guess the two Promedias 2.1's should sound the same as the Promedia 4.1's but with more bass(extra sub).

Two sets of Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 are not the same as a set of 4.1 speakers. The problem is what to do with the center speaker. It is similar to getting two 2-channel amplifier to make it a surround sound system. If somebody knows how to do it, please let me know too.

If you didn't pick one of these up from Sam Goody yet, they will be getting more from their warehouses. According to my local sam goody (I picked one up yesterday *WOOT*) they said that more will be comin in stock tommorow. So don't give up if you didn't get one yet, check back later.

These speakers are damn loud, the sub is amazing. :D

I called up the Sam Goody in Glendale Galleria and the Burbank Media City Center today...Glendale said they didn't have 'em, Burbank said they didn't carry them. Hmm...anybody in the LA area know a goody that carries these at this price?

anyone who has these know about hooking them up to things other than the computer? Can i hook these up to the TV, or a stereo? It seems from the way it is, I can get the speakers hooked up, but then the sub will not work. any success stories?

I scored the last 2 at Horton Plaza San Diego Sam Goody; I asked the manager that was holding them for me if they expected any more in. He said these are last years model and once they're gone that's it.

Does anyone know if using the Klipsch Monster Cables found here: Text would make a difference in sound quality? Or should I save some money and use the mod described here: Text

Also what would be the best sound card to use with these puppies? I will primarily be using them for music and games...can't wait to hook this 4.2 system up! :D

BTW...thanks for the original poster for the hot deal!

Anyone know if anyone has them stock in Sacramento/Davis, CA area?

I tried calling 3 stores but they just immediately say "I've never heard of Klipsch, *click*"...

Seems like they don't have any competent people working there :(

Depends on who you ask regarding Klipsch vs Logitech. I have never heard the Z560s outside of a store and have a hard time imagining they sound better than the Klipsch. I sold my v2-400s last fall and when I connected these Promedias this weekend it was like being reunited with an old friend.

KLIPSCH will always be better than logitech. Look at the company, their primary goal in life is producing speakers. Logitech's primary goal is producing mice. Each company strayed away from what they normally do. IE. Klipsch creates wonderful home audio products and went to multimedia, Logitech went out of their primary product line of mice and created a multimedia set of speakers (mind you never creating a speaker before in their history) Tell me, whose speakers do you think are going to sound better?
'nuff said.

Yeah. I think Klipsch is better. Maybe that's why I have a pair of the Klipsch Promedia THX 4.1 =D
