--Rated as such since I know a lot won't look past the first movie--

Amazon is offering the complete collection on blu-ray for $24.99. This includes the trilogy and the Animatrix (a good addendum IMO) on blu-ray plus two DVDs of additional content.

http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Matri...7246033&sr=1-1

For comparison, Amazon UK only offers the trilogy blu-ray itself for slightly more, not this set. The complete DVD boxset is more expensive from either site right now.

So after you throw the second 2 movies in the trash where they belong, the deal isn't so hot ;)

Thanks for the update. I still have my HD-DVD set though.

May wanna check 'em. There was a manufacturing flaw in Warner's HD DVD discs which has caused them to deteriorate over time. Of my Matrix HD DVD set, the second movie will no longer play and the first requires skipping an entire chapter to get past a freeze.

Nice deal. I actually liked the second one a lot, even if it was more cartoon than real movie, it is pretty hard to watch by today's CGI standards. The freeway bike chase is one of my favorites for testing HT (as is the hotel lobby scene in the first). That scene with "the architect" set up a lot of interesting stuff, unfortunately the 3rd movie just didn't pay out on any of it. Obvious the Wachowski Bro's were bored with it at that point. One of the biggest WTF endings of all time...

I noticed that a reviewer said this set was remastered? I wonder when that might have happened? I've got a blu ray of this but no idea if its remastered?

Yeah, I have (had) about 45 Warner HD DVDs. Once I got wind of the degradation problem, I started playing through all of them to see which ones were shot. At the final tally, 29 were unplayable beyond the midpoint, if not earlier.

Warner is only replacing about 10 titles though. :\

Laser-rot... Anyone?

Basically.

My Matrix HD-DVD set is fine. I'm reading some of this bad news with Warner discs at the AVSforum and it doesn't sound good. I'll have to go through my collection to see how many Warner movies I own on that defunct format.
