Yes, it comes with a DVD+RW disk. Anyone else have any comments on using Nero with DVDs? I've got version 6 and have no problems with CDR/RW, but no experience with DVD recording.... Thanks,

David

yeah i'd like to hear some more comments from ppl in here about nero, because everywhere else i've been i haven't heard that many, or any for that matter, of complaints bout it

Just wanted to say that even though I had to pay more...shopping with CDW was a breeze. I ordered one $100 item and they assign you a "personal" CSR who sends you the emails confirming the order and the ship date. Then yesterday I got a phone call at home from him asking if I'd received the drive and if everything was OK with the order. First rate in this day of non-customer-service that you get from most places.

Be careful if flashing this drive and it's on the same IDE channel as another DVD-ROM drive (Samsung in my case). The flash went fine until the reboot. Now both drives are dead! :(

I've downloaded the DOS flasher and will try later.....*sigh*.....

I HIGHLY recommend that you never flash anything in windows!!

Good luck reviving your drive! :( I read that it can be done with the DOS flasher.

Halff, might be worth an email to your account manager to ask if they'll pricematch compuplus at $118. Nothing lost, except 1 minute to type it out.

That's how CDW works but they cater to large companies and their prices are normally high with a few exceptions now and then.

Well, lucky in that I didn't have to do anything to revive them except unplug the DVD-ROM drive, let PC reboot.....then reconnect DVD-RW and everything is OK now. Guess Dell BIOS didn't like the firmwares or something similar. Even a power down didn't correct it until I did the above. Happy again. Backing up DVD's right now....having a 4 year old is murder on the originals (she's killed 2 already! :( )

:)
