ok guys, this is extremely hot! MacMall has the HP ZR24W IPS LCD monitor for only $259.99 AR (free UPS ground shipping):
regular price: $403.99
price after instant rebate: $359.99
price after mail-in rebate: $259.99
$100 mail-in rebate: http://i2.cc-inc.com/RAPcoupons/37551MacMall.pdf
why such a great price on an IPS monitor that rivals the quality of the Dell's U2412M, and perhaps even Dell's U2410? i've heard rumors that HP is getting out of the LCD monitor business. so while this is a great monitor, i don't know how much longer support for it will be available.
another thing to consider is that there seem to be some conflicting sources on the internet regarding the exact specs of this monitor. most vendors advertise the panel type as "H2-IPS," though TFT Central loosely defines this specific panel type as a slightly modified H-IPS or E-IPS panel. however, TFT Central's actual review of the HP ZR24W seems a bit contradictory itself in that it specifies the panel type as E-IPS, but then claim that its color depth is 8-bit (not 6-bit like all other E-IPS panels).
so i'm not really sure whether the H2-IPS nomenclature that HP uses refers to an E-IPS panel or an H-IPS panel. consequently, i also do not know whether the panel's true color depth is 6-bit or 8-bit. one thing's for sure though - the reviews and testimonials speak for themselves. people who are looking for IPS panel quality that will far exceed TN panel quality, yet don't have the funds for a top-of-the-line IPS monitor, the ZR24W is one of the best in this specific price/performance range.
