Staples has this Intel Pocket PC camera for $129.98 - $80.00 (MIR).
Unable to pull the MIR form (although it's mentioned on the site) . Throw a $25 coupon for purchase of $100 or more and final cost will be around $25.

$129.98 Reg. Price
$80.00 MIR
$25 Coupon

Final Price : $25 + Tax

sams club has this camera for $89.98. if the $80 rebate is valid there too, we (ofcourse, sams club members only) could get it for $10 + tax. can somebody tell me whether the intel rebate is valid there too?

thanks.

There is no specific mention of staples on the MIR form.
So it should work.

Can i shop at sams club with a giftcard if i am not a member ?

With tax it works out to be almost similar to the dell deal.
Is the "no flash" on this camera a big problem ? How good are
indoor pictures ?

I do not think buy the camera at Sams Club will work. The mail in address on the 80.00 rebate is McAllen, Tx and I am pretty sure that is Staples rebate center's address. I got really excited about this until I printed out the 80.00 rebate form. But even still 49.xx after rebate is a great deal on this PC camera. guess its Staples for me tomorrow. BTW Sams does have the Intel $30.00 rebate posted on their web site.

Has anyone tried to PM the Sam's Club price at Staples? I know Best Buy has this for $109.95 so you could PM that price and get it for $4.95.

Best Buy PM
109.95
-25.00 coupon
-80.00 rebate
Total 4.95 +tax

Sams Club PM
89.95
-15.00 coupon
- 80.00 rebate
Total +5.05 + tax

Staples uses the "post-rebate" price (49.95) as their price when you try to pricematch. no pm.
the rebate appears to be a Staples rebate, not a Intel rebate (inspite of it being labeled "mfg rebate"

best option seems to be

order for 129.95
coupon code 71567 ($25 off $100)
$104.95
rebate for $80

total out of pocket $24.95 + tax (quite reasonable, but not a "killer" deal)

I've never had a problem PMing at Staples B&M without the rebate being factored in. I know Staples.com's policy is to use their price minus the rebate, but in B&Ms it is at the manager's discretion and they have never factored in reabates when I have pm'd.

Another note nowhere on the rebate form does it say you need to have purchased this from Staples.

This camera is quite good at videoconferencing. If you're running Win2k, Intel still hasn't released their updated software for windows 2000. However they have a driver out for it so you're able to download pictures from the camera or use it with netmeeting. Only problem right now with Win2k is that you can't delete any photos from the webcam memory.

here

I went to Intel's website and it seems like you can download the win2k drivers...

Can we also get the $30 Intel Rebate?
The Intel rebate requires the UPC on the inside panel.
The outside of the box has something that looks like a UPC too that you can use for the Staples rebate (????)

Cool deal, saw it over at fatwallet. Saw some sample pics and they look pretty good, wonder how well it performs in lowlight, I'm sure it's better than cheap cmos cams, just how much though?

i have got the dell midnight grey pocket pc about a month ago and am runnning win2k. intel only has drivers for the camera but is in the process of making the create and share software compliant with win2k/xp.

here's a link on the info. it states their should be info on the upgrade by sept. 17th. win2k driver/software support

Microsoft* Windows* 2000 Driver Availability for Intel® PC Cameras

In response to our customers, Intel has released Intel® PC Camera drivers for use with Microsoft* Windows* 2000.

Please note that these downloads contain drivers only and do not include any Create & Share? software applications.

Intel is currently working toward a compliant version of Intel® Create and Share? software for Microsoft Windows* 2000 and Microsoft Windows* XP Edition. More information, including how to obtain an Upgrade CD, will be posted on our website by September 17, 2001.
:)

so us win2k/xp users dont have to worry, w2k/xp compatibility is on it's way..

oh, nice deal by the way.

I was going to say that we could try and also use the $30 rebate from Intel, but I looks like the $80 rebate is also from Intel, so it's a no go. Here's some of what it says in small print for those of you who can't read it.

I have this camera, which I got last month for $49 at CC. This is an even better deal.

For Win2k, using this camera is a breeze.
For accessing pictures, I use ACDSee
To erase the existing pictures in the camera, I hold down the menu button and then hold down the shoot button until it erases the memory, then I release both buttons.
This works well in video conferencing using netmeeting.

The only uncertainty is a way to capture video but I heard it could be done using some software.
