Club IT has the Enermax Chakra for $48.99 after MIR. Shipping only $16.19 This is a good size mid-tower ATX case in classy basic black with a MASSIVE 250 mm side fan to keep things cool and quiet. Add your own 120 mm fans front and rear for cooling that is going to be superior to anything that Silverstone or Lian Li has to offer. This case has everything including built in CD/DVD drive covers and (get this) an exterior SATA port on the front.

Reviews from Big Bruin and Virtual Hideout.

I'm told that this case will even accommodate two 8800GTXs but I haven't confirmed it. I'm gambling that it will and if it doesn't? Hell, at this price, I'll just keep the case around to build my next machine for my kids.

If you are looking for an unbelievable deal on a computer case, this is it.

Updated--For those of you who jumped on the deal or are on the look out for other Chakra deals, be advised the Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme will not fit in the Chakra.

This is the Mid Tower case. The full tower is call the Uber Chakra i think. It is still a very nice case and the side fan is quite! I have this now with only the side fan while I wait for my yate-loons from nextfan.com (errrrr). Its doing a pretty good job of keeping it cool and my HDs are louder than the fan.

It's funny to see this now. A year ago when I was in a store in Akihabara, "Big Fan" cases were a large portion of the cases shown. At the time here in the states there were possibly 2 or 3 at an equivelent fry's or online store.

This may prove to be where cases are going as a trend. Reminds me of my friend ducting his A/C to his computer.

Thank you edited.

In fact, at 19.3 x 7.9 x 17.9 it's almost exactly the same size as my Lian Li P-7.

Edit Oh crap! I ordered Yate Looms from Nexfan to fill the Chakra as well! How long have you been waiting?

4-16....sent an email a couple of days later because they really have no way of tracking your order online. I got a reply that said they sold out fast, and they were expecting another shipment "soon". I just sent out another email but havent received a reply back yet.

You assume correctly. Nor would you want any PSU that would be included in a $50.00 case.:brokenheart:

FYI, Club IT has very good deals right now on the OCZ GameXStream 700W and the OCZ GameXStream 850W. They're both respectable PSUs with sufficient wattage for just about any rig out there. But for the fact that they only have 2 six pin PCI-e connectors and I need all the MOLEX connectors I can get for peripherals, I would have jumped on either one.

I e-mailed Jab-Tech and they responded that they have "hundreds" of these fans in stock. Price isn't bad either.

Here is excellent case (Sonata II) with a decent power supply for less than $50 :), Power supply is ok, but not comparable to an OCZ GameXStream

Thanks. Depending on the response I get, I may cancel the order from them and try jab-tech.

Ok, I conceed, maybe decent is not the best word. The Antec 450 Smart Power supply is NOT worth the $67 at newegg and it does have a poor repuation.. but this debate goes on. Many users have this psu and are happy. I myself have 1 of 3 antec psu which is dead. That said, the Sonata II case is an excellent buy at $50 AR even if you use the psu as ballast in your trash can. Myself, Ill use it.

Sorry for hijacking your thread OP

No problem hijacking my thread. I'm used to it!:D

I'm also glad to hear that you've had a positive experience with the Antec 450 Smart Power. Lots of other people have had experiences that are anything but positive and for that reason, I would never recommend that PSU at any price.

I am a AT Hot Deals addict and post frequently with deals. However, one of the things I try very hard to do here is steer people away from supposed "hot deals" on substandard PSUs. In my experience, a cheap PSU is rarely a bargain and because PSU faults are so difficult to diagnose, they can lead to hours of frustration in trying to figure out why a PC suddenly blue screens or a CPU arbitrarily throttles down. As even bargain systems become power hogs, the need for PSUs that provide clean stable power continues to increase.

As I've posted here, the OCZ GameXStreams are decent but far from exceptional PSUs. If you can get a deal on an OCZ GameXStream and know that you're still buying a second or third tier PSU at best, I recommend them. On the other hand, when it came time for me to personally pull the trigger on a PSU for a computer made almost entirely of Hot Deals components, I went with a Silverstone DA750, a PSU for which there are no "Hot Deals" apart from getting a measly 5% off by going to Deadeye Data through the JonnyGuru Forums (BTW, I highly recommend JonnyGuru.com for all your questions about PSUs.)

I have postings all over AT about PSUs and there are some great bargains out there if you don't need a 1000 watts (and trust me, you don't), but I would drop $120 on a SeaSonic M12 SS-500 in a heartbeat before I would put a free Antec Smart Power in my rig.

I'm living a charmed life when it comes to computer components. Maybe I'm gentle with them, I don't know what it is. I am not complacent, however. I've never had a PSU fail on me, nor a HD, PSU, video card, not even a case fan. I've had a few fans on video cards die -- 2 on BFG cards, and BFG sent me new cards, one time a ti4600 instead of a ti4200.

Anyway, I figure I should get a decent PSU, if not top tier. One of my two PSU's came in a sub $30 case! However, it was evaluated and praised by a famous Internet computer hardware guru, so I decided to take a chance. So far so good, but truthfully I don't use it normally, only occasionally. My day to day PSU is an Antec 430 and I'm told I should upgrade, I presume because they are known to be unreliable.

Thanks for the recommendations on PSU's.

I have a question about Molex connectors. I suppose what you are referring to is the typical connector plugged into most HD's (at least IDE HD's), CD-RW's, DVD-RW drives, etc. Is there anything wrong with just adding Y connectors to those to get as many Molex as you need? That's what I've been doing.

Currently, I have no PCI-E devices, and am only thinking about SATA HD's.

I don't see how you can compare an Enermax case to a Lian Li at all.

But for the price, this looks like a decent case for those on a budget.

You're right in correcting me Muse. The proper technical term is 4-pin peripheral connection. "Molex" is the vernacular term for the pin and socket interconnection. The generic answer your question about simply adding Y connectors to add Molex connections is as follows: Generically, there is obviously some type of limit on the number of peripheral devices you can power off any given rail in a typical multi-rail PSU--keep adding devices by adding peripheral connections and you will eventually hit the limit and either damage your PSU or, more likely encounter stability problems of some kind. IDE hard drives and CD/DVD R drives can draw lots of power, so it seems unwise to me to add lots of additional peripherals to a PSU cable designed to power only four to six devices.

I have specific problems with running so many adapters because I have two 8800GTXs for SLI, but you don't want to hear about my problems, do you? ;)

I went all the way through my explanation and then saw that your are talking about adding SATA HDs. SATA's however require a different kind of power connection than IDE hard drives and the OCZ GameXStreams (to use our current example) have six SATA connections. That should be enough for just about anyone.

I'm not comparing any Enermax case to a Lian Li, I'm comparing this case. And I'm not saying its superior to a Lian Li case, I'm saying that with its 250 mm side fan and by adding the optional 120mm front and rear fans you will likely be able to achieve better airflow than a Lian Li case. I can't prove this yet because I don't have the case, but when I'm up and running I'll be happy to report back.

Oh, and if I'm wrong and the Chakra case turns out to be a POS, rest assured that one of the Lian Li cases with the side mounted patent cooling fan will be its replacement.

Will a tuniq tower fit in the case with the side fan there? How is this case compared to the Antec 900?

I don't know for sure if a Tuniq Tower will fit but I'm guessing it will. I've ordered a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme for mine, so I'll report back when and if I'm up and running. Somebody at New Egg is reporting that he fit a Zalman 9700 heatsink in his Chakra so that's a good sign.

Oh, the other stuff was interesting! Do I need an SATA supporting PSU if I add just one or two SATA drives to my currently IDE only system? I just bought a MB that supports a couple of SATA HD's. Thanks.

Depends, are you simply plugging a SATA adapter into an unused 4-pin connection?

I didn't, it's a pre-order.
