I've gotten some good Ubid deals in the past. What scares me now though are these 'Consumer Exchange' auctions, where any bozo can auction stuff. Check out the Consumer Exchange laptop auctions - there's an awful lot of high-end Sony laptops being sold in the $500 to $1000 range from Europe and Romania, for money order payment only. Yeah - like I'm sending a money order to pay for a laptop from a guy with a yahoo.com e-mail address that has never auctioned anything off before...

And to top it off, ubid only provides buyer protection when buying from a Customer Exchange buyer with at least one positive review, so a new seller is a complete gamble. It's obvious these are fraud...

Still, what this post is discussing sure sounds like a good deal, if it's really from Ubid themselves...

I hope they have more than 1 of each, and won't charge too much for shipping - but again, it's uBid...:|

This seems way too good to be true. From the wording on the page, it looks like these sales are being put on by Ubid themselves; do you guys think it's the case? I would feel safer buying if it was backed by Ubid, but if it's like how jtallon said and it's some shady guy in Romania, forget it.

but if it's like how jtallon said and it's some shady guy in Romania, forget it.

That is exactly what Ubid is! Everytime I have placed a proxy bid with them for some reason somebody bids against me up to my top price. No this mysterious bidder wouldn't have bid on the other 5 exactly same items at a lower price he wanted to have a bid war with me. Now Ubid does not release the names of these mystery bidders makes you wonder what they have to hide.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!!! Come on "Playstation 2 Complete Systems for $39?" They're
still retailing for $299. If they require you to come by the alley and pick up the item from the back of the
truck, I'd think twice.
