OKAY:
First of all, no, these are not Henckels knives. (You people are the same ones who bitch about a $99 Hard Drive by saying a $200 hard drive is better. No sh*t, sherlock.)
These knives used to be $7.95 at Shipping Only about a month ago. I bought in then (I think I saw the link on FW, can't remember). I got the knives within a week of ordering.
The knives are absolutely NOT crap. I'd say the quality is just as good or better than the knife block I paid $25 for at Target. Plastic handles (just like all knives except for the expensive gourmet variety), but sturdy. The blades are actually incredibly thick, and quite a bit LESS flimsy than my $25 set. I've been using them for about a month, had them in the dishwasher several times, and they're keeping up just fine.
There are lots of knife sets for $15-$20 these days at places like Target and Wal-Mart. I'd say these knives are about of the same quality. You don't get any kind of block to store them in here, but the set does come with a flimsy cutting board (which again I've had in the dishwasher several times, and it's holding up fine.)
So to the critics: Chill out. A $10 set of knives is never going to be the "best" or even "great." But I can say with certainty these knives are worth $10, and then some. They're not going to fall apart, and they maintain their sharpness. What else, exactly, do you want a knife to do?
