Memory prices are going up especially DDR2, so i am buying mine now and letting it set all warm and waiting until my AM2 is here, that way I am not paying a ton more on mem at that time..... That was my reason for posting this now.

nice deal, i've been out of the loop recently on ram and all that since it's been some years from my last build.
what mobo would be ideal for this type of ram?

good price for 667s.

ClubIT has the OCZ 800 ones on sale for $179 AR. You may want to consider this instead for upgrade purpose, since all the conroe stuff will be up at 800.

hm.. it's 4-4-4-8 vs 4-4-4-12 (pqi).. so i am guessing it's similiar. As far the 800 timing is higher because it's rated at 800, if you are going to use a conroe system, it will be well worth it with high bandwidth.

Not so sure about m2 .. there hasn't been much about it.. so.. big unknown. Anandtech had a review a while back for the new conroe, performance looks sweet!!

So $145 for 2 GB (2 pcs 1GB) DDR2 (667) PC2-5400 OCZ Gold

or

$180 for OCZ Technology 2GB Gold DDR2 PC6400 800mhz Dual Channel System Memory Kit

This will be for my new system. Epox nf4 Ultra board, opteron 146(overclocked to insane numbers hopefully) and 7900gt GPU. Which memory is reccomended?

your amd setup requires regular DDR memory.

as of right now DDR2 is mainly used in intel systems. However AM2 will use ddr2.
