This might be a silly question, but what if I blow up my OS ? My friend said his keyboard and mouse are useless in DOS without special drivers.

I have that exact keyboard and mouse and they suck. I don't even use the mouse because it isn't optical, and the keyboard is just plain crap. A lot of the time is won't pick up the keys that I hit and it's range is horrible. I practically have the receiver sitting on top of the keyboard and it still doesn't work too well. I think the way to go for wireless stuff is Logitech

Agreed. I picked up a Logitech Cordless Elite Duo at OM when they ran them for $50 during a F&F event. The keyboard works great, but the mouse occassinally freaks out now and again (it is pretty rare, and resetting the cordless connection fixes it). If they only just made a MX700 cordless duo that ran off of bluetooth. That would be da bomb like Affleck in Phantoms.
