The usual hot dog/drinks for a buck + standing in line for 2 hrs is probably available. :D
That's not enough to motivate me to drive to Concord, yet... Waiting to see the real sales flyer.
<rub it in> I think I have 3 Frys here within 15 mins of driving. :) </rub it in>

Does anybody know WHAT will be on sale?

Most of the sale items they put on sale have the same sale price over and over again. And they always have some sort of reason to have a "SALE day".

I'm about 5 minutes from Sunnyvale Fry's (the biggest/best IMHO), 20mins from Palo Alto/Campbell/San Jose.....

I was in Sacramento on the weekend and drove past the Fry's there - it was closed :( also drove past the Fremont one too :(

I remember the Las Vegas store had really bad parking which took 30mins to get in/out of!

So what's the theme for the Concord one then?

I was just in the Fry's in Sunnyvale and asked the customer service rep about the sale.
He said that only the managers know what items will be on sale tomorrow and the majority of the employees won't know until they come into work tomorrow.
Get there early!

Someone on FW reported that they called the store, and the receptionist said the store is opened already, just that the big sale starts tomorrow. There might be some sales going on now too. If you are near by, you might want to swing by.

Anyone sees any stack of items that is placed aside?

I think Fry's always does that whenever they anticipate a bigger crowd swarming for the sale item.

i'll be there at 7:30 tomorrow, hopefully I'll be able to grab something and get out of there in time for my 9:00 class at DVC (community college about 5 minutes away from Fry's). If not... eh... shucks :)

Stupid Fry's.. they got 5 in the S. Bay, none in SF, peninsula, or N. Bay, and 1 now in the E. Bay.. (well, technically 2 counting Fremont), but it's close enough to the S. Bay... anyway, they could have spread them out. Even though I'm in the E. Bay I'm right smack in between the Concord and Fremont one (both being about 20-30 min away). Oh well, hopefully they have some good deals...

Anyone have any past experience with these sales?

How are we suppose to know whats on sale?
Do we go in the morning and start reading the wall of ads posted in the store?
Will it be in the paper tomorrow?

I stopped by the store this afternoon.
The store was very clean (surprising compared to Fountain Valley store).
Sales associates were more than eager to help you(I guess since it's grand opening.)

My favorite display was the Car Audio section.
I'm thinking about getting 2 10" Kicker comps to replace my MTX blue thunders.
Anybody know how these compare to JLs?

For Crazy Dave.

Yeah, stupid John Fry is kicking himself all around his personal 7000+yd golf course in his 'back yard' in Gilroy and entertaining a few PGA pros who stop by 'by invitation only' to play around on his course which may become a qualifying location in the future.

This guy has got to be really stupid and have a really bad business model.

Yes, it will be in the morning paper. It's great if you get it delivered. And the info they post on the walls "is" what's in the newspaper ad.

the sales associates are probably not the smartest in the world (surprise surprise) because according to the Fry's hiring person they were only looking for people who could work unlimited hours 6AM-midnight, so whether or not the associate knows wtf he's talking about is totally random.

Stopped by around 30 minutes ago, i guess they closed the doors at 7:00 cuz there were a lot of people inside but they wouldn't let me in. Either that or they have something against teenagers (surprise!)

Oh well i'll be there at 7:30 tomorrow :)

alot Fry's employees just stock shelves and looked at you stupid when you are shopping except in the MB and CPU section they seek to be the smartest there, you can browse forever and no one will ask you if need help deciding on anything. I hardly see the same people in a dept except MB and CPU.

ehhh, fry's was better when it was a little wherehouse in sunnyvale and nerd's everywhere drove from miles out during sales. They used to have a prize giveaway on easter when the first X customers (I think it was 500) got a little plastic easter egg and every one had a piece of paper with the name of a prize on it. Some people won store credit, some people won CD-ROM drives (they pretty much just came out at the time) . I remember winning a keyboard and thinking, wow, this is the coolest store ever.
