Get it Here!
This software is called TeamTalk, and the latest revision is 3.01. I discovered it over the weekend while a buddy of mine and I were playing WoW and lamenting the lack of a vocal communication medium (typing when in a dungeon is just...dangerous
. We looked at TeamSpeak but decided that hey, we're already paying $15 a month each for WoW, it doesn't make sense to spend even *more* on vocal communication software, so the hunt was on. We tried a couple of packages, but this was the best by far.
I've set this up on my own server at home so my friends on WoW and I can chat during gameplay, and it works great! Surprisingly low BW consumption, and you get the Client and Server capabilities in ONE package! You can even set the server to run as a *service* that auto starts if that's your cup of tea (I set mine up that way so I don't have to worry about it).
All in all, great software, very worth downloading!
EDIT: Turns out TeamSpeak is also free, but with a bit of an unpleasant catch in the license:
So for those who *don't* want their servers being monitored, TeamTalk is an excellent FREE alternative.
EDIT 2: Another package that's been talked about as good is TeamSound, but their website appears to be down and most Download links are no good. The one in this link actually works (verified!) and I will test and review it tonight.

If you host a Teamspeak server strictly for non-profit AND you are not a commercial entity then you will not be subject to licensing fees. Each physical server that qualifies as a non-profit organization cannot exceed 100 slots for all instances of Teamspeak running on that server. If more than 100 slots is detected by our automated tracking system, your server may be subject to review (or suspended) and you may be held liable for ATHP-based or Single Server Use-based licensing fees.
So for those who *don't* want their servers being monitored, TeamTalk is an excellent FREE alternative.
