TRV-900 is a 3-CCD camcorder that delivers professional quality video with Color bars, LANC, etc. This is a few hundred less than other legit vendors with decent reseller ratings. Note that this camera sells used for between $1200-1400. This site has a good summary of the TRV-900 capabilities and applications. Note that stills are are only 24 bitlow res, but can be stored on tape or through the PCMCIA i/f. I bought a CF PCMCIA adapter for under 10 bucks, so I can stick with one form of NV storage across my devices.

Profeel is the least expensive authorized dealer for Sony, Cannon, et al I have found and have a good Reseller Ratings - usually about 10-20 percent below legit competition. I have bought from these folks and they're the real deal. They will price match with legitimate retailers, but not with the NY grey market crowd who try to sell over priced accessories and seldom deliver.(again, check reseller ratings)

I have no interest in the company, I'm just a very satified customer.

Doh! - Thx for linking - too much fun on the 4th for me.

Note that Profeels pricing on the other camcorders
for "average users" ;-) is very competitive too.

TRV900 is nice but a bit dated. Rumor has it that a TRV1000 is coming this fall (but of course, it will be priced much higher). If you are more interested in consumer features, take a look at Sony's new kick-ass TRV30. Quality should come close to TRV900 (its still a one-chipper though), you can get it as low as $1300, and its got a few nice things like 1.5Mp stills, built-in flash, mpeg recording, USB access, etc.

To make this relevant to the thread, you can get TRV900 for $1549 at OneCall.com (this price isn't advertized but I didnt have to twist their arm too much to get it).

Also, the TRV30's predecessor, the TRV20 is ridiculously cheap now (around $1150) and is also quite nice (though its still and video resolution is a bit less and it sports Serial instead of USB for stills).

I just spent a few weeks researching camcorders and trying them at stores and settled on TRV30.

Zmatrix,

I couldn't tell which price you were referring to, but it is worth mentioning that OneCall.com is Sony authorized, while (i believe) ProFeel is not.
