I know this has been posted before but the deal is hotter now. Even though these are refurbished you just cant beat the price for the quality you get.
Monitor
I was referring to IIyama before above.

I just checked the hitachi site and they have these monitors pretty darn cheap if you ask me.
Hitachi B-CM615 17" for 109.00
Hitachi B-CM715 19" for 229.00
Hitachi B-CM769 19" for 279.00

BTW these are refurbished too but should be fine since they are available from the manufacturer itself.

Im not too sure about the hitachi's but the iiyama states 90 days.

Does anybody recommend the iiyama? I heard some good things and some so so things about it. But the people who love it really praise it...

So, IIyama themselves only have 90 days worth of confidence in their refurb monitors. That speaks volumes, no matter what manufacturer one speaks of. You feel lucky? Well do you punk?

Iiyama makes the best monitors in the world IMO.

Two friends I know have the 450 Pro. I'd buy the refurb since the new one costs wayyyy to much but worth every dollar.

would it be better to get the i90A-R refurb that they also have? I mean how is this monitor anyway...
it's 100 bucks more at 399, but it's a 2 yr warranty so I see it as an additional 50 bucks per year investment just if the tube goes bad, however I did not check yet just thought of it, that if the monitor goes bad under the warranty period do they cover shipping BOTH ways, if not, then eh.

hmmm ... about that "Iiyama makes the best monitors in the world" comment from above

i have a 13inch monitor with a 12inch tube made by them ... its almost 15 years old, and it still gets heavy use (well, its on my linux box) the monitor looks like a microwave oven, The colors on it are crisp, the contrast is quite good and the picture is very sharp. it even will do 1280x1024 while interlaced for a 15 year old monitor, i'd say Iiyama is quite nice.

yea this is off topic, sorry but i <had> to do it (well not really HAD to)

I bought the re-furbished Iiyama Pro 450 when it was posted on this forum a few months ago at $50 more and I am very happy with it! No scratches or blemishes whatsoever. No flaws with the tube - no dropped pixels or anything!

My experiences have not been so great with these refurbs. The first one I got had a lot of discoloration in the screen, big blotches of yellow smack in the center and in other spots. I got a replacement one and this one randomly turns purple and only goes away if I degauss or turn off then on the monitor. I'm not sure how many more RMA's I can take at this point.

Well, after a little hassle with UPS (they wanted me to sign for the package, and then didn't come back the next day as promised..) I finally got this monitor.
It is already 10 times better than my old Sylvania F89 ( much clearer and crisper ).. i was amazed -- i usually had to use my glasses with my F89 and with the Pro 450, I could read it w/o glasses (whoo hoo!)

Can anyone suggest a good way to burn this monitor in? Will leaving it on all day for a couple of days do it ?

cheers,

Has anyone compared this to the Sony e400? From the product loyalty I have seen regarding the IIyama, I'd think the IIyama is better, but I'd like to be sure. Thanks in advance.

BTW, I noticed that the newer models (451 and 452) do not have BNC inputs. I can just hear it now, some bean counter has the ear of IIYama management and is saying, "Hey... what you have is a great monitor, but it's just too expensive for mainstream. Let's cut costs so you have a good monitor that is just like every other monitor out there, but we can sell it cheaper and make more money..."

<< Hitachi refurbished monitors come with a 1 year warranty. I assume my VISA gold card would double the manufacturer's warranty (?). >>

Bad assumption. Visa/MC extended warranty coverage specifically excludes refurbished products.
