Im not sure its called a HOT flash but its what i would call it.

I have two Boards ASUS P2B's one with a dead BIOS thanks to me. If i take the good board and boot to a floppy into the AWARD bios Aflash screen and pull the working BIOS and put in the bad BIOS chip can i flash it or will i rish killing both chips doing this?

I have done it. To make things easier, make a lasso around your bios chips using scotch tape so the one inside the socket is easy to pull out. Also mark the chips so that you are sure you are not putting it inside the wrong way.

humm What do you think the rate of success is ? Im a bit nervous

edit: ive been reading alot of "HOT flash" searches on google. The danger seems to be from electric shock to the BIOS when you pull/push it back in.

I dont know. Im a scardy cat untill i hear back from someone.

I have done this as well, with much success. I like the scotch tape idea "zzzz" I'll have to remeber that one. And like he said make sure you put the chip in the right way or you'll have more than a dead chip.

I've done the hot swap on 3 diff mobos, worked everytime. Just be carefull that you don't bend any pins.
