I purchased one of these at my local B&M OM a few months ago for 49.99 (retail price $199.99), and I can promise you its very handy. Has a good GUI, easy setup, and very convienient. Just my two cents...by the way, I just checked my box, and see no SKU#. MFG Part 71001-00. UPC#5860300020. Hope this helps...

Biometrics are going to be very common in the future I believe. Too bad I don't have an Office Max around here or I'd be on this.

Buffboy, I saw at the B & M store. Any one tried with win2k? BTW did anyone try using oscompatibility utility under support folder on win2k for win98/95 only programs?

Thanks.

Here is the place where you can get new software for the reader. I think you have to contact them by email or phone to get a password to download the software.

Cheers,

Now it's buring hot! I just got mine from OM for guess what, only $2.00, plus 17 cents tax. The clerk was very helpful and searched all inventory and find a couple (it is not on display shelves). After I checked out, he grabbed the last two units for himself.

Well, I know what I am talking about, it's UareU deluxe fingerprint recognition system(USB). And yes, it's brand new and I paid $2.00 plus tax.

Hi again,
the correct upc code for this product is 658603000202. I forgot about the small digits on either side of the bar code, sorry...

called again since that upc by robzilla at the beginnin didn't work, but it worked this time, the guy said the computer said one in stock but he couldn't confirm, he said they were discontinued since the price was only $2, i was disappointed but not that surprised. When i told him what it was after i told him the upc, he laughed at me like i was insane or somethin, lol. Oh well good find, if ne body got multiple cuz they were so cheap and would love to be a saint and sell me one, i'd pay ya a few extra bucks to take it off ur hands

Yeah it does, it's supposed to replace your login prompt with a biometric version.

I called then went to my (not so) local Office Max. They've never heard of it and nothing shows up in their computers.

Update: Just called and gave them the UPC and he said that they are getting a shipment in Thursday. And so I asked if he really meant they are getting a shipment (just a common weekly shipment) or if they actually ordered some and he said it's flagged with a 0 so that means yes, they are getting some in. Woohoo! I always wanted this!

We (Lewisville, TX) haven't had any in about a year or so. You guys are lucky you can find some.

0 means 0 on hand, does not mean they're getting some in. If its discontinued then our delivery center should NOT be delivering out any more.

Yes, I understand that common sense would say that 0 means False or Untrue in computer science as well as most things. However, I don't think he was referring to the Quantity when he told me they would get some in. Either way, it's not going to hurt me to dial 8 numbers and check on Thursday.

I find it amazing that people are saying this product is discontinued (for the last year or so?) Well when I was at Staples trying to get my HD, I found they had a bunch in stock and they were all $99.99.
