CompUSA Mid-Tower ATX Case

For thirty dollars, if it holds together it's a good deal, right? It's cheaper than anything else I see locally and didn't find it in any active threads.

Personal digression:
I need to swap an already-built PC into a new case, because it is in an anachronistically-old steel tower one right now and I'm not sure I can get the motherboard back in once I check to see if it's shorting on the case. Anyone know if CompUSA stocks spare parts to insulate the motherboard from the new case?

That actually looks pretty decent. Sometimes $30 cases look like something that fell outta Voltron's ass. I might pick up a couple of these for future 'buddy builds' or something.

What do you mean 'insulate it'? Aren't you using the standoffs? Unless the case is warped very badly, there's no way the mobo should be hitting the case - unless there's a screw or something floating around in the csae.

That power supply likely will suck ass. One also needs to factor in shipping as well if they're getting it online.

My concern regarding the standoffs is more that because this is a very old tower case with a newish MSI motherboard that's sporadically losing power may be unknown territory as far as what's currently under that board.

I'm not sure I want to use a power supply that comes with a $30.00 case. This isn't a top-of-the-line PC, but whereas I don't mind if it looks ugly I'm not going to stick it with brand X power.

edit: Beaten, kind of. heh

For a case at a local B&M?

As someone mentioned, a $30 power supply is probably of suspect build... not to mention one that comes with a case for $30!

I bought one of these cases for the kids its a lower end case almost flimsy but when its all built it becomes solid. Its about as good as any $30ish case you get from newegg.com

if you look on their site it's also available in black.

CUSA used to sell a rebadged Antec SL1650B without the power supply and a 90mm fan instead of 120mm for $26....best bargain case that ever existed, but I don't see it anymore.

I've been looking at cheap, standard grade power supplies...Directron has the HEC series for cheap. Directron power supplies

PC Club have a couple of cases for $30, and one with a PSU for $35. If you tell them you're a system builder, you'll normally get a discount as well.

I got a micro-atx case from them a couple years ago w/ 250watt PSU for $25. It's been just fine for my htpc A64 3000+

I picked one up, and the dude at the store says this is the regular price for this case from now on. That's good news for me when I build someone a basic PC. $30 for a good enough case FTW! Also, the case has a crazy cooling setup. You can fit four 80mm fans up front, and one 80-120mm fan in the rear. It looks like the vent holes in the front are the same size as the screw holes, so you may even be able to just stick a 120mm up front as well. All around a great buy for $30 and $0 delivery fees/time!

Wow, a 585 watt psu for 25 bucks, something doesn't seem right. Is this a good PSU, seems too good to be true.

That depends on if the case has ventilation or not, a bad case can build up heat inside and cause component malfunctions.

I own two of those cases. One in black and one in white. they're kinda flimsy feeling but have seem to hold up for me all right. wait till the weekend cuz the black one is usually on sale for 20. plus black one looks a little better.
