Hello,

Amazon is giving $30 for signing up for their credit card. The 128 MB Viking is available at amazon for $49.64 with free shipping. There is also a $15 rebate for this so the final price is $49.64 - $30(credit card) - $15 rebates = $4.64 shipped !
If your jittery about the credit card, then just cancel it after your first order.

Enjoy.

Where is the link on their cite to register for the card? Also, I guess you have to pay for shipping in this case, as the card probably won't get to you before 15days are out, as the rebate specifies to send it in no more than 15 days after purchase.

Also, I bought an MP3 player from amazon a few days ago and got the free shipping, which they claim will take a month to get here. If Im already paying for the shipping of this card, can I combine the two and only end up paying one $5 shipping charger, or are they going to charge me for both items separately???

kalex,
the link to the credit card comes up on the home page of amazon.com. if you dont see it then you should delete your cookies and try again. you can use the credit card instantly. when checking out, select the amazon card with which the -$30 coupon will be applied. you should see the deductions before you place the final order.

I am not seeing the link, I deleted all cookies and history.

Side note, one bummer with these instant credit offers is that it is usually not available to those with security notices placed on their credit report. This is the only downside to these notices, the credit check always comes back as "more info needed", and that is just fine with me. Catch those scamming f'ers in their tracks. I highly advise the placement of these notices to guard against identity theft.

Where does it say you get a $30 gift certificate? The only 2 Amazon credit card links I see are for 0% for 90 days on $199 and up purchases and 5.9% on the other platinum card.

Careful folks, signing up for a credit card may feel like its free, but even if you cut it up and cancel it the first day you can and never use it, there is a very real cost to signing up for credit cards. Every one you sign up for, every time your credit is checked by a firm (this probably includes another deal I just saw for $75 for a test drive of a car), that hurts your credit rating, which in turn makes it more difficult to get a loan in the future and more difficult to get the best rate as well.

Signing up for one will not hurt you, but if you make a habit of having more than a few credit cards (if you have more credit than you "need" that hurts your score), each one will hurt you in the future.

When you're trying to buy a house, that $30 saved will not seem so significant anymore...

Be careful!

Guys,
Sorry for checking back on this post so late. I assure you this is not dead or mis informed. I got a big picure link " Save $30 instantly" at the top centre on the home page. I thought it to be a great deal and wanted to share it in this forum which has helped to get some amzing deals in the past. Well, I dont see it anymore so I am going to change the title to DEAD.

Sorry.

Darn I wish I could find this. If you apply, then use the $30 credit towards clothing...spend an additional $20 to get your total to $50 in clothing, you will get another $30 Gift Certificate. That's $30 worth of free clothes, and a $30 Gift certificate for spending $20 bux!!!!!!!!

I can confirm the credit card offer - when I go to Amazon's home page, the first thing I see is "You're pre-approved for the Amazon.com Visa® Card!" and a link for applying. And this is the offer:

· $30 promotional certificate to use on an Amazon.com order you pay for using the card
· Instant use of the card after application
· Reward points for each purchase made with the card--for every 2,500 points you accrue, you'll automatically receive a $25 Amazon.com Reward Certificate
· Triple reward points on purchases made at Amazon.com!
· 0% APR for 12 months, low 8.9% APR thereafter
· No annual fee

It seems this is tailored to different customers, so some may get different offers.

I have to explore that idea of buying $50 worth of clothes.

:)

thanks for checking. Sounds like for existing customers, so clearing cookies would probably not work.

That could be it !

So, i guess you should logon to your amazon account and then check the homepage.

also, a month back, i got an email from amazon inviting me to sign up for their credit card.

I have not been a heavy buyer from amazon, all in all must have spent a total of $200 on the site. so your chances of getting in on this deal is as good as mine.

hope atleast some of you guys benefit from this.

Also, I tried to change the order to include the $5 coupon, but it doesnot work.
So the deal is back to $5 for 128MB smartmedia card rather than being Free.
