Never heard about so-called "slow chipset", though there exists some features upgrade or change. The two major chipset manufacturers is Intel and Via. I think the chipset speed can hard be changed. BTW, ECS is one of the major board manufacturer! >>
The KT133 was short lived for a reason. It doesn't do 133FSB.
It also doesn't overclock worth a damn, either, but thats neither here nor there. I'm OC'in my mom's comp.
These two reasons are why VIA released the KT133A.
Personally, I like a Mobo that will run the new processor later on when I have more cash and can upgrade.
OTOH, I have a server running on an ASUS A7V right now which uses the same chip. I don't OC and its got a Duron in it, so whats the problem? Probably be my main file server for a couple more years...
