I think this is Version 1.X of this motherboard and from ECS's website I do not think it will support the 266mhz bus. The BIOS updates are not clear to me if this is true or not. The Version 3.X has a slightly different VIA chipset which may be the difference??

Good Deal... As long as you are there order this ATX Case w/ 250W PS for $17.99 to put your $42 motherboard in. :) and This Motherboard with built in VIDEO, Sound, Lan, and Modem is not a bad deal for $59.50, Video isn't great but for $17.50 more plus it uses the SiS 735 chipset (better than KT133 at least I think so...).

Shipping for me is only $16.00 for the case and motherboard... Great Deal!! I need to build a cheapie system...

I am suspiscious that it's a Yahoo Store Though..... I can't find these guys on reseller ratings either..

The about us page has four different business names mentioned....

PC Alliance
PCA Inc.
Linkworld Electronic Corporation(LEC).
alliancepc.com

I can't find any of them.... Anyone delt with these guys???

[EDIT]I found an old thread that talks about the $17.99 case deal from these guys... it looks like those that ordered from them are happy...[/EDIT]

I'd rather pay the extra. get the K7S5A from Newegg. That way I'm guaranteed an upgrade path. Plus I get built-in LAN, and both SDR and DDR support... Odd, tho, the board in the link says on-board LAN, but it has a header for it on the MB... Which suggests an add-in card...

There's just some things there's no *reason* to save a buck on, IMO...

the reseller rating for this company is 6.0/7.0. Yahoo marked it as a five star top service. looks like a pretty good one! I got a case, a motherboard and a 64Mb Video Card with TV-out ($49) combination with $14.87 shipping to PA . Great info and great deal.

Damn that case sucks, I went for that cheapie once, to fit a K7T Pro2-A motherboard in there I had to file the damn I/O plate at the back, it was ridiculous, the motherboard risers didnt line up properly either. The case is very light and just feels cheap and nasty.

Seems very interesting. For a 17 bucks case, what quality are you looking for? I got a $89.99 case just one month ago. of course it looks better, but now I don't think there is $71 difference between them.

well... trying to keep this in perspective... on the quality/price front..... Yes it's an older chipset.... yes the case is cheap... but if price is your primary concern then this is a good deal..... Were talking about a case & ps and mobo (w/ sound and lan) for $76.00 shipped 9from a reputable dealer as it would appear).... For a PC for someone that surfs the net and does email.. then this is a hot deal.....

If you want a case that doubles as a jack stand then it's not a hotdeal..... I have a system with a K7VZM in it and I play CS, and MOH:AA with no problems....

<< this is old and slow chipset mobo >>

Never heard about so-called "slow chipset", though there exists some features upgrade or change. The two major chipset manufacturers is Intel and Via. I think the chipset speed can hard be changed. BTW, ECS is one of the major board manufacturer!

The KT133 was short lived for a reason. It doesn't do 133FSB.
It also doesn't overclock worth a damn, either, but thats neither here nor there. I'm OC'in my mom's comp.
These two reasons are why VIA released the KT133A.

Personally, I like a Mobo that will run the new processor later on when I have more cash and can upgrade.

OTOH, I have a server running on an ASUS A7V right now which uses the same chip. I don't OC and its got a Duron in it, so whats the problem? Probably be my main file server for a couple more years...

In today's pc parts marketing, my personal opinion is " the cheaper the better'. I will never spend $1000 to get a high-end PC and then wait its value drops by 80% in less then one year. don't you think so?

Actually, it uses the SiS730 chipset, which preceded the SiS735 and is SDRAM only. Moreover, that board is the PC-Chips K7-810LM-266. ECS seems to be PC-Chips elite division and even the well regarded ECS K7S5A has a high DMA/DOA rate, from what I've read. After bad experiences in the past I'm still not ready to take a chance on straight PC-Chips again. Try to puzzle together this company's not completely grammatical return policy. Sounds like you pay shipping, with a raft of other restrictive policies.
NewEgg offers the Biostar M7VKS for $53 with $6 Fedex.
BIOSTAR M7VKS AMD VIA KLE133 686B 266MHZ FSB PC 133 MICRO ATX - OEM W/video & software audio. 3xPCI slot. 1xISA slot. No AGP. AMR. 2x DIMM. ATA 100. W/HWM. 244x255
The video won't do 1280x1024 at 32 bit color, though it seems OK at 1280x1024-16 bit. Also, apparently the board can handle the latest XP Athlons.

Good point most people buying this deal will be running a duron in it anyway... I know I will be....

we used to have a slogan at one of the wrecking yards I worked at "All cars drive on used parts!"

Same holds true for computer parts nowadays... "By the time you get it it's old technology!".....

You can overclock Athlon/Duron regardless of chipsets. You just have to be good with Dremel engraver and automatic pencil.

WTF, I put in the $42 MB and the 17.99 case, and my shipping is $28.99.:disgust:

Shipping for MB only is $8.39 for me to Oregon
Adding a Case adds $20+ to my shipping. FYI

Out of the boards mention(Biostar, ECs K7vzm, or the pc chips), Which do you recommend? I ONLY want cheap. It will be upgrading an ancient pentium 233 with who knows what kind of board.
