Hot dog diameter

I've decided to make a weiner chucker instead of the traditional spud gun. Does anyone know what the average outer diameter of a hot dog is so I can find the right size pvc pipe? I haven't found any good sources on google yet. If it comes down to it I'll bring a hot dog to home depot but that would be weird.

LOL. I have no clue what the average diameter of a hot dog is. But, if you get this working, I gotta check it out.

That probably seems about right, I don't think the cheap ammo is much of a different size either. If I wanted to use heavy artillery I guess we could use brats....don't want to kill anyone you know.

i can see it now,headline:
another fatallity from psydo-spud gun. this time the youth involed in the fatality was shot in the face with a weiner instead of a frog. :D

Depends on the brand. I believe Decker and/or Ballpark make bigger hot dogs. Oscar Meyer is a little less than an inch in diameter

How about vienna sausages? The bbq flavor could be a lube and they might be of a more uniform shape. Suggestions?

I seem to be at a roadblock, the average inner diameter 1/2" pvc is .608" and .810 for 3/4" I need to find a weiner to fit my specs or find some other pipe......:)

and yes there will be :camera:

I'm thinking the number of misfires resulting in a spray of meat(?) to actual launches is going to be pretty high.
