Hot Deals - Too Many Stickies

route66

Senior member
The Hot Deals has too many stickies. It's not so bad now that half of the Black Friday ones are gone, but there's still too many IMO. Is it possible to concatenate a bunch of these stickies into one post? Also, remove the NewEgg sticky (everyone complains that it sucks).

Just some thoughts.

I agree. Maybe get rid of that gmail thread? I'm sure nearly everyone who wants a gmail account get get one now.

A solution might be "freeing" Rebate tracking thread, How do I?, IAWANNA, Brag and Moan. And then creating one thread which links to those thread.

And do the same for the manufacturer sales. That would leave a total of three stickied threads.

Some of the of the stickies are for payed adds. Anandtech is not free to run and they help to support the site.

Be very careful when changing the topics and post per page.

If on dial-up, it can be very slow to work with.

Certain members experience such frustrations, especially when using highspeed at one locations and dial-up at another.:disgust:

I'm on dial-up at home, and have everything set at 100 with no problems. Rarely do I connect at better than 28.8.

In addition to suggesting to the OP to change the topics per page, I was also going to suggest that the default get changed? I don't see why it's so artificially low. Anyone having trouble with dial-up can move it back; otherwise it would be "ideal" for a majority of members.

on my laptop (whcih is what i use 75% of the time to browse anandtech) the threads take up all of my screen and some scrolling. Of course i have a 700m so thats not helping the issue but it is overwhelming no matter how many posts per page i make it that i have to scroll just to see the first "real" posting seems a bit sad to me.

I use a laptop at 1024 and have no real problems. Allows 10-12 threads per page without scrolling.

It is the amount of information that needs to be loaded that is a bigger concern. It helps on dial-up to supress the sigs and graphics.
