Travel watches, databank watches, barometer watches, kids watches, camping watches, lap watches, trail watches, reef watches, marathon watches, temperature watches, compass watches, radio control watches, alarm watches, solar watches...

My first Hot Deals post at Anandtech (and it's a darn good post), and the first comment from a Platinum member is to complain that they aren't "his kind" of watches. Please forgive me for not knowing ahead of time what kind of watch is "your" kind of watch. It's not easy to please everyone, but you don't need to bitch because a hot deal isn't to your liking.

Don't worry, everyone's a critic. Some are just more vocal about it.

I don't "need" another watch right now as I just picked up an older Kinetic, but there's something there for most people unless they're looking for the bling-bling. Don't worry about what some say. Just remember for each objection there's probably dozens already checking it out and possibly buying, and a couple more stealing your find to post on their "deal" websites...

ROTFL...I was going to post how I thought these watches were crap. Pretty glad I didn't and that someone else got to face "the wrath of decaf." I love the watches. They're freaking SPECTACULAR!!

Actually, my comment wasn't a personal attack on anyone.

It's more about the Anandtech culture which discourages people from even wanting to post anything here.
Why don't the mods step in and discourage disparagement of the OP, so that people who have something to contribute can feel some gratitude.

Nice post ;). Is it just me, or do all the nike watches look horrendously uncomfortable? They're all wierd shapes and off centered and stuff.

Ya, maybe I just haven't been "keeping it real" enough to know comfort isn't good anymore.

Stop complaining, just wait till you post a deal for something that has EVER been posted in the history of the universe, you're gonna get blasted by the repostaholics.

Oh all right, I'll ask...what IS your kind of watch.

I have the one on this page (best pics I could find)

pics

Not too expensive (around $300 shipped or $599 if you are dumb enough to buy it at Fortunoff's).

Sweep second hand, auto movement, reasonably classic look, not too shiny. And above all, a legible face.

Good prices on the Timex Expedition watches. I've used a couple Expeditions just for
knocking around and they lasted for years. One still works and the other one needs a battery replaced. It actually ran for 5 years on the original battery. It was an LCD one BTW.
I've bought from these guys before. Quick ship and cheap prices.

Thanks, Decaf. Picked up an Expedition watch to replace another of the very same watch that I loved and accidently broke. $20.92 to my doorstep, about $10-$15 less than I'd pay locally (if I could find one, which I cannot).

Nice deal.

Re: Wrath of Decaf

Decaf, keep in mind that people can become platinum members by posting inane, stream-of-consciousness comments. These can be summarized as "I like fuzzy kittens, but this deal isn't fuzzy kittens."
