Hot Deals & eBay

I just noticed a jokersmoker hot deals thread was locked because the link was to a deal on eBay. These days it is *very* common for large etailers like NewEgg, BuyDig, and many others to do blowout sales on popular items through eBay.

These are not auctions and are always buy-it-now with large quantities of the product available. They typically last *at least* one day, so it's not like they're gone in just a couple hours or anything.

I think the forum rules should be amended to allow these types of links, with the criteria being it is offered by a well known vendor with large quantity buy-it-now offers. The reality is that the deal jokersmoker posted was *very* valid and hot and was locked simply due to following the letter of the law and not the spirit.

As it's been explained before, it's a matter of resources.
It's easier to just ban them altogether instead of spending time doing it on a case by case basis.

I suppose, just seems asinine. In particular the Hot Deals forum tends to police itself pretty well. Again, following the letter and not the spirit of the law.

I always wondered why they don't allow massdrop as well considering it's a legitimate place to buy stuff.
