This has got to be a hot deal..
17 inch Pixie Monitor from Staples $149
use $40 off of $150(add something cheap to the item)
There is a $60 MIR (used to be $50)
also, there is 1 day free delivery..

$149 - $40 - 60 = $49

The $60 MIR is for purchases from 21 Dec to 26 Dec..

There is also $50 MIR for the monitor.. I'm not sure if you can use both rebates ( both rebates are from Staples).

Got one, using it now, cool way to try out the dual monitor support under windows 98+, grab a PCI display card and enjoy. Wife isn't too happy with a stock ticker on one screen & p0rn on the other tho...

Seriously, the downside is the 60 hz refresh, and the colors aren't as intense & the text isn't as crisp as the refurb Dell I got from Buy.com last month. Mine's a 770C.

This sounds like a sweet deal, but all you are going to get for your money is one big a$$ headache. 60hz refresh rate is too low. If there's one area to spend your money, it's on a good monitor. My 17" KDS Avitron (not the new totally flat ones, but the one just prior to those) is the best thing I've ever seen, even better than the Sony Trinitron 17" that had the same tube. Invest in a good monitor and it will serve you long after your CPU, video card, etc., have gone to the scap heap.

It might not be the best monitor, but for $60, it's a great deal..
1024x 768, you can have the refresh rate up to 85 hertz..
For a 17 inch, it's hard to read anything higher than 1024x768..

It's also new and has 3 year warranty..

That sounds so sweeet! So after you use the first discount and rebate you are able to use the second rebate to get a practically free monitor?!

Thanks for all of your help!

Post edited to spread Holiday Cheer!! Have a safe and happy holiday everyone!!

Chexi,
It's only $60 and I would imagine most people are buying it for a 3rd or 4th computer in their house, not as their main monitor. It does do 85hz at 1024x768 which is what I plan on running it at.

John P:

I agree with you. I can't understand why people bad rap this extremely cheap deal. No, it's not an trinitron, no it's not a NEC, but it's no where near the price. It's like comparing a Chevy to a Mercedes. The Mercedes cost more, but few people can justify the cost difference. Ditto for this monitor. People may have no problem with shelling out $60 for an extra monitor, but can't justify paying more for the same size monitor. With a 3 year warranty, it's a big plus too.

I had one of these and they are decent monintors, well worth the $60 in my opinion. ;)

could somebody please tell me what the dimensions to the shipped box are? staples can't tell me and I asked the manufacturer but they said 10x10x10 which doesn't sound right!

Dear all,

You are correct, and I apologize for not looking into the monitor a bit closer. I was assuming 60 hz was the max refresh rate even for the lower resolutions. I agree, 1024x768 at 85hz is quite acceptable. So acceptable in fact, that I just purchased this monitor as a spare for lan parties. Be sure to get the $60 rebate, it's available.

My add-on item turned out to be out of stock, so they reset my order and took out the coupon. I had to call and add something else, but all seems to have been worked out. This is truly a great deal for a spare monitor, and thank you for posting it. *eats crow*.

I ordered this item also with a keyboard online, but When i call them to confirm, they told me that the keyboard was out of stock. So my total came out to be $149.xx, but they said that they are still taking off $40. I checked my status online, the total came out to be $149.xx - 40 + tax = 116.xx

Maybe I got lucky..

Sweet deal! I was so very tempted to buy this monitor for an extra computer when it was posted with the $50 rebate, but I held back...

$10 more off put me over the top and I had to buy it! (Plus a lot of the good coupons expire at the end of December...)

I have one of these sitting in my office now - bought it for the wife's puter - you also get a free 5" portable tv if you ask for it - the info is either here in the earlier thread or at fw - for $60 bux you can't beat this -

I used the 40 off 150 just a couple hours ago. I think this is a great deal. I believe this is the same unit compusa used to badge as thier standard 17" monitor. I know it's not the best; but, I got that compusa one for a couple of non computer friends that I put systems together for and I think they were more than fine for that. No complaints.
I got a second one for my sister with a 30 off. Still good deal. Also, I haven't double checked this; but, I think pixie gives three year warranty. Not too shabby for a budget item.

good luck,
Mikel

nctiger... if you read the rebate form you'll see it is for either of two items. One explicitly mentioned is the sku you refer to and is the one that everyone is ordering I would guess. Don't take my word for it, always read the rebate fully for yourself. It's certainly the one I ordered two of though. :)
I see some talk of this being model 770c. I see nothing on this on the pixie site. Anyone have any feedback on possible difference from plain 770 model?

thanks,
mikel

You need to read the $60 rebate a little bit further. It says "Rebate applies to PiXie 17" Monitors 750 Model (SKU 427879) OR 770 MODEL (SKU 382113)...
