Just ignore it. The Mods usually waffle on this issue, nothing will be done.
Looks like they acted on it. Frankly as anyone who has been to the HD Forum would know that a thread like that is always going to cause trouble. I truly believe that the idiot who posts that crap is fully aware of it and does so just to start a hubub. SInce this is a Private Site I think it's best just to forbid those types of threads. So we lose a few members over it, who cares?
Maybe. I'm sure some do it to cause trouble. OTOH if people weren't so easily baited (you know that pretty well, Red

), then it wouldn't matter...
Still, free is free. You're free to not click on a link. You're free to request a free copy of the Bible and think of it as a thousand free sheets of low-quality toilet paper. I don't care what religion you are or aren't...who doesn't use toilet paper?
Nonetheless, I think what Oldsmoboat is referring to by waffling and nothing being done is not locking the thread, but making an executive decision one way or the other, and either way enforcing the policy. Currently the policy says "no thread crapping" and explicitly mentions flaming over religious propaganda as an example of thread crapping. If that's the policy, then whack the thread crappers.
Or ban religious hot deals, and tell the people who don't like it to sod off. Then consistently lock religious deal threads on-sight.
The latter decision is probably easier to enforce. I don't like it, though. Not because of my religious inclinations, but more because it is representative of the continually degrading level of intellectual quality within our community here. There was a time when few of the members did not know when to bite their tongue, but in the past year, it seems that the mindlessness that has been rampant in OT is spreading to the other areas.
But I suppose if that is the state of affairs, so be it. Currently, the policy is clear but not clearly or consistently enforced. The solution to the problem lies in changing that.
