*HOT* deal Policies @ HH Gregg Electronics

HH Gregg appears to be a consumer electronics chain that has just opened a batch of stores in Atlanta, in addition to stores already in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. From their site and ads, they seem to be like Best Buy without music, movies, or games (like Hi-Fi Buys with appliances). They *do* have 2 policies that seem incredibly hot. One seems to be essentially a 200% price match guarantee (not sure - you may have to buy and then come back to get 200%), and the other is like the OfficeMax Canon digital camera deal that came up recently - if they advertise a product, and they run out of it, they'll give you the next better model for the same price. Keep your eyes open for possibilities - this seems like an opportunity for some BLAZING deals!

Text of the policies follows:

H.H. Gregg's Retail Store Double the Difference Price Guarantee

If within thirty days after your purchase (14 days for computers, notebooks, printers and monitors) you find a lower price from a competitor's local store (within a thirty-mile radius) on the same in-stock brand and model, available with a manufacturer's warranty in a factory-sealed box, we'll refund you double the difference between their price and ours. To claim your refund, simply bring in your original H.H. Gregg receipt and proof of the lower price. Our "Double the Difference" price guarantee does not apply when the competitor's price includes free or bonus offers, financing, delivery, installation or rebate offers, nor on one-of-a-kind or limited offers, internet pricing or products purchased on-line.

If during that period H.H. Gregg lowers its price, we'll gladly refund you're the difference between the price you paid and our current price.

In-Stock Guarantee Policy
You'll never need a raincheck at H.H. Gregg. In the rare event that we advertise an item and for some unforeseen reason it's not in stock, we'll sell you the next better model for the same advertised price! Substitute will be a comparable product with similar features and chosen at the discretion of H.H. Gregg. This offer does not apply when advertised product is erroneously priced, described or represented. We reserve the right to limit quantities.

It appears that they will sell you the next unit up for the same price, not give it to you for free... Still a hot deal (if only I had some of these stores where I live).

That sounds like a nice chain of stores, but methinks the deals are not so wonderful that I would drive about 8 hours (maybe more) to get to their nearest store. Oh well. At least SOME people on the East Coast get to brag about a store for a change. Those with Fry's in the West (and Texas, etc.) always get to post about fry's deals. Maybe you guys in Atlanta can generate a few "Waaahhh...I wanna HH Gregg's in <insert location/state here>! :D

I go there all the time, they are not exactly like a best buy, they do not have the same size of a computer department, but their television audio, video, and appliance departments are supreme. They also have great business service.

Last Christmas they advertised an Apex DVD for $39. By the time I got there they had sold out of the Apexs, substituted in first some $69 Matsushitas, then some $89 Toshibas, and finally (what I got) a $99 JVC XV-S302. Gotta love it.

Now that's hot. However, let's see what happens once the AT effect kicks in :)
