GNC runs a deal where you save ~$9.00 when you buy them by the box (have seen this at Mall of America and Woodbury MN GNC). Match this with a 20% off super tuesday and you get 12 bars for ~$20 which is cheaper than anywhere on the net (the cheapest I can find is $21.95). I have bought these bars with this deal for the past two months on their Super Tuesday. The bars come in lots of flavors and taste decent. I don't like the fact that they use glycerin and still claim "low carb", but you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Anyone ever tried Eclipse deluxe protein bars? I ordered some and was curious if they are any good. Only $17.99 for 12 at DPSNutrition.com

The only bars I can handle are Promax Bars from SportsPharma. Only 20g of Protein per bar, but they taste great. Chocolate Mint, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Cookies & Cream are my favorites.

GNC bars taste sorta like refried vomit. If you want a great tasting low carb bar try Biochem Ultimate Lo Carb bars. Chocolate Smores, Peanut Butter and Jelly, and Chocolate Covered Coconut are the best on the market IMO and they only have 3 carbs.

dont eat low carb bars.. yuck they are like 40% glycerine, I am not sure what they use glycerine for, (car part lubrication?) but it is nasty.. for those of you who are not familiar with this, here is how you tell.. add up the calories based on their values,

1 gram fat = 9 calories
1 gram of carb = 4 calories
1 gram protein = 4 calories

with low carb bars (and a lot of other bars) they will not add up to the total calories, all of these mysterious missing calories are glycerine, becasue the FDA Does not require companies to report it... if you do this addition for any "real" foods it will add up to the total calories...

anyway if you need bars for a good deal (and they do carry low carb bars) try this site:

http://www.nathigh.com its not much to look at, but they are one of the cheapest and they give free shipping on all orders > $100. they also have a really easy pricematch thing on their site, but I have never really used it (they are at the most $1-2 more than anywhere else - and usually cheaper)..

As long as you're not a lazy sac of ****, the small amount of glycerin/calories wont hurt you. Calorie counters always amuse me. A lot of them are obsessed with calorie count and STILL cant lose a pound.

what's the best way to supplement your protein intake if you eat very little meat? the bars i have tried from EAS are nasty and get worse as you go.

Like I said, try the Biochem bars, i guarantee you wont be disappointed. The Carb Solutions bars are good too. As far as eating very little meat, eat baked fish or canned tuna, its loaded with protein. Just lay off the starch.

Hmm... I don't know... aren't most people who eat protein bars trying to gain weight or muscle? If you don't care about carbs, then why bother with low-carb at all!
