Yes you can get CPU's at a much lower price but the question is can you get this one at a much lower price. One example is a Celeron 2.4Ghz sure it's gonna cost less but it's not as nice, Genius.

still not the same proc...

I am still happy with my AMD 3400+ I bought months and months ago for the same price 🙂

Well if you want nice - BOXED PENTIUM 4 530-3.0GHZ HT 1M 800FSB at eCost for $198 plus handling.

Yes that is nice, but once again not nearly as nice as the one I have listed above, check the benchmarks on the two processors and you will see the diference.

I could smell the thread crapping even before I clicked on this thread. Leave the guy alone, it's a fairly good deal on a fairly good processor.

Thanks kind sir, I am an AMD guy myself but hey to each his own, I am sure there are some people out there that would like a P4. I know that the Prescott isn't the coolest thing on Earth or the fastest for that matter but hey the price wasn't bad.

Geesh, how many crappers does it take to change a.... nevermind

This is a decent price for THIS processor... that is all he was claiming. You all should be ashamed of yourselves! Now, move along.

Hey thanks PastorJay, I have seen you post before on the Bleeding Edge Forums. I appreciate a little something nice every now and then.

The Renton, WA Fry's has a P4 3.4 GHz with mobo) for $269. I'd say most other Fry's have a similar deal. The mobo is probably an ECS 848P chipset with no dual channel support, based on a similar product listed at Outpost, which cools off the deal a lot, but you could always sell off the mobo to raise some cash for a 865-based one.

Same deal available in Dallas Area Frys as well.
