Ok, before i get flamed for this one, i think it's a hot deal, and i'm sure it'll be useful for someone else out there...

i was looking for a cheap digital camera for spring break, because i dont want to bring the nikon coolpix 995 that i'm ordering right now, because i'm afraid in my drunken stupidity, i'll break it, so i'm looking around, and i come across this little thing at HSN.com, Digital Camera, and i check it out, it's only
$57.85
+ $7.95 shipping
- $30 mail in rebate
- $20 coupon (823510) (mods should allow because this was in papers and cable bills)

total of: $15.80!!!!plus tax, which came out to be

Oh, i almost forgot, you have to call the orders in, internet orders won't work with the code

$18.35 for me in NY.

for a cheap digital camera this is a great deal, and for people like me who think ahead, this is the perfect thing for college spring break, or even for a cheap X-mas gift for a distant aunt or uncle,

the code is a first time customer one though, so it's only valid once, tell me what you think guys, i'm just trying to help

Here's a review at ZDNet

"The SiPix iQuest DualCam, as the name suggests, is two cameras in one. When attached to your PC, the camera becomes a multipurpose Webcam that lets you capture digital video to your hard drive or videoconference with anyone in the world. Detach the USB cable and the DualCam becomes a digital still camera that you can take with you wherever you go. But the catch is the image quality, or lack thereof. Whether you're capturing video or still shots, the results are far from impressive"

bonk102...

Actually, this ain't too bad for web-site pix, or to throw into your glove compartment (for my wife's frequent accidents ;( ). The specs. ain't bad for purposes like these:

640 x 480 resolution (barely printable)
USB-transfers to your PC (better than my Nikon CP 950)!!!
Doubles as a web-cam

But ... if **your** spring breaks provide the "remember-for-a-lifetime-memories" our's did (;)), I'd rather risk my CP 950/995 to "memorialize" 'em.

If you only expect "640x480 experiences", go for it ;) !~!

I like this line:

<< High resolution, 640x480 >>

That's like me saying "Enormous 2 inch dong" :D

Hey, BTW, nice find bonk102. I'll probably do this. I read their shipping policy and they will use USPS! I'm in Alaska, so finding places that ship via USPS is my quest. There is no Ground shipping to Alaska, and 2nd Day Air kills 97% of the Hot Deals for me. But yours makes the grade. Thanks again. Maybe 640x480 *is* high, and 2 inches *is* enormous. :D

Cruel but effective Ribbet. But this guy is just trying to share a hot deal and I respect him for that. Bonk 102, thanks for the post. This is gonna be a treasure for someone who doesn't have a camera and can barely scrape together the $18.35 after mir for one. I got the HP 215 last July for next to nothing thanks to a Rally1 post and just love it, even though it's not really very good.

I get an error when I try to use the coupon.
You have entered a coupon code that is either invalid or is not active at this time.

Has anyone else gotten this?

Also, where do you get the rebate?

So this is a phone order deal only -- but I can't find the phone number anywhere on their web site or in any phone directory. I guess they assume you are looking at the number on your TV screen, but I don't get HSN.

Hehe, I just noticed in the first post that you had to call in.

Shouldn't drink and surf I guess.

I did find a 25% off code. It's not quite as good, but you can use it on the website.

Thanks, Bonk102.........
I was looking for something cheap to grab for a camera, so I don't have to worry about it getting destroyed.

there's really no point in buying a digital camera this cheap. you'll get far better results with a cheapo regular camera and either buying a scanner or asking your devel lab for a cd with digital transfers...
believe me, the few advantages of a digicam over the setup i propose are not worth the severe dropoff in image quality
