just got mine, its working. works better with the microsoft pci 802.11g card then my smc laptop card though. sometimes drops out real quick, just gotta connect again, doesn't do that with the microsoft.

anyone know how to auto connect to the router at boot?

edit n/m seems theres a 802.1x xp sp1 bug or something, turning that off the laptop adaptor stays connected:p

I got this one free AR from Staples 3 weeks ago (V2 model). After updating the firmware, this box is working otay. Here's my configuration:
1. RJ45 wire
Generic Ethernet card (PC #1)
Packet-8 internet fone device
2. Wireless WEP encryption
PCMCIA Microsoft MN-520 (Laptop)
PCI Dlink DWL-G520 (PC #2)
Cheers!!!

This Router has a major bug that makes your router need to be rebooted when there are too much traffic. There has no fix for many years, and i doubt there will be. its well documented at dslreports.com's forum. They said if you use bittorrent or other P2P, it tends to 'crash' often. you need to power cycle it to start it up again.

This router is otay for a startup system. After the firmware update, it has been running smoothly.

I have the MR814v2 router, no problems here. I was using it as my main router while doing a bit of bittorrent and maxing out my download pipe (3mbps Comcast) and never had to reset the router.

Instead of a PCI card, if you have a USB port try one of these:

Wireless LAN Adapter - ( USB-400 WiFi )

I just ordered one. They have good reviews in a thread at another forum.
Also the price is right, atleast for now.

I had bought that router over a year ago and worked great when I first got it... then it started freezing every time I would download something. I tested it with multiple computers both plugged in and wireless. Finally, I tossed it. If this one is v2 it might be better. I had v1. I guess for $16 it's worth the risk.

Unfortunately none of their firmware's worked for me. What's funny is, most of the ones available for download are beta's.
