But no reason as to why. It wasn't the greatest deal but if I don't know what I did wrong, it's hard to keep from making the same mistake again.

Your coupon thread was locked because it was not a Hot Deal. It was just a discussion about a coupon you happened to receive.

I read the rules posted at the top of hot deals and it doesn't look like everthing related to coupons = is prohibited. In any case, my post said nothing about coupons. You just sign up for their newsletter and they send you a link:
