Hot deal? IBM T42 2373-3VU for ~$2400

Now that the T42's are out, has anybody found good sites to order them from?

By the sheer amount of people who have purchased from him on his site, i personally wouldnt worry about it. However, i would never be able to pay with cash as i never have that much cash onhand

I almost bought a T42-2373-3VU from Bill/Thinkpads.com mid-last month, but ended up getting a t40p direct from IBM because of timing and availability. The T42 was the same price as the T40p, with a slightly better CPU, faster hard drive, and more recent GPU. Bill was super quick to respond to emails, and because he is a low-overhead, low-inventory deal that only sells thinkpads, his prices are as good as you'll find. Plus, you're helping the little guy and supporting the thinkpads.com community.

I purchased that exact model from Bill last month in a group buy. I was also apprehensive about paying cash but based on the overwhelming number of supporters and other clients on the forums I was won over. I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Bill seems like a great guy, and easily reachable. He won't be running off with anyone's money.
