Razer is back in business, and for owners of the old boomslang they are offering exclusivley the new Razer Boomslang 2100 for only 29$ (This is less than half of what retail price will be) Currently the mouse is only availible in Europe, and current boomslang owners will be the first in the states to get one!

My order is already in. You have to cut off the USB tail of your current mouse and send it to them.

Nice deal, I have a dead one sitting around here, may jump on this. Any information on it? How is it different than the 2000?

I thought that mouse was a POS. $40 for a new craptacular version is outrageous.

To each his own though.

They say that it has over 200 improvements over the old model, although I don't know exactly what. I believe they addressed the sticking problem some of them had among other things. I'll post more info on is as it becomes availible.

"There are approximately 200 new and upgraded engineering features found in the 2100. The new softer seven foot cord is genius and the micro-switches and scroller wheel are built for wear."

Thats too bad. Most mice are too SMALL for my hands, and I cramp after 2 or 3 hours of gaming.

Yeah, it's a gamers mouse so unless your really into FPS games it's absolutley worthless to you. If you dont know what it is, you probably can't utilize its capabilities. This deal is for previous owners only, I know there are a few around here still among the ferengis. Most people will do just fine with their logitech optical mice :p

I find my 2000 to be great/better than my intellimouse explorer 3.0 in everything for quake to photoshop to CAD. They are just all-around great mice. Not just for gaming :)

I believe that it got a bad rap because it was so sensitive. The mouse definitely demands an adjustment period, but after getting used to it, it's a pretty decent input device. I've been using mine for years now and am thrilled to hear that they are back in business - if not for the new version, than simply for the WinXP driver!

Thanks!

yep, I hope they can stay in business this time. I think you are right about the precision, people are used to the sloppy mice they have been using. Someone on fat wallet made a comment about the precision on an optical moust being the just as good, which I think is hooey. The greater DPI is worth it for me, I barely move my hand and teh pointer goes from corner to corner with the boomslang, with my optical mouse, I have to move my hand all the way across the pad.

tomshardware (i think) just did a roundup that included the boomslang, and they said the Logitech MX700 still rules.

I had a few of the 2000s (still have one somewhere) and they were hands-down the best ball mouse I've ever used. They were extremely accurate and weighted just right. I did have to get used to the shape, but after I did, it was gravy. :) My complaints were the substandard drivers (scroll wheel didn't work in all apps, neither did the extra buttons) and the fact that they squeaked.

I saw this and was wondering if it's worth it to send in the old one. I have two of these, and the later model (when they switched to plastic rollers) has the sticking problem, so I'm thinking about sending it in. The early model (one of the first 1500 made) is still trucking and working great. These are hands-down the best mice you'll ever use. The shape takes some getting used to, but there's nothing like being able to flick my wrist and move all the way across my 3 spanned 22" CRTs!

Well, I mailed them my mouse tail earlier today. I'll post my thoughts once I get the mouse.

Which optical mice have you been using. I know the first few generations were a bit sluggish and lacked accuracy, but my MX500/Ratpad GS combo has performed wonderfully no matter what I've used it with. Games, Photoshop, Maya - it is fast and accurate in all of those operating environments. Of course, the Ratpad helps a lot - I noticed a faily marked improvement in my mouse speed and accuracy when I kicked my old mousepad to the curb.

I'll admit that I've not yet tried a Boomslang yet, but has anyone here tried it head to head with a MX500? I'm hesitant to throw my money down on a ball mouse after all these years of running optical. I might be interested in giving one a try if there is a HUGE difference in performance, but if it is merely a subtle improvement I think I'll just stick with my MX500 when they put them back out here in the states.

I've used an intellimouse explorer, as well as an mx700 and neither one is as precise, imho

Man...I got one of the first 1500 BS 2000 mice, and I still love it...they just released WinXP drivers too!

I wonder if these 2100's will ever have Mac support, anyone know?
