Usually 48-72 hours but Dell sends out new coupons at least once a week.

Where do you get these dell coupons? I see people talking about them all the time and I can't ever find them.

Not bad for a basic browser but:

- 14" screen is a bit small by today's standards
- Radeon 9000 is a bit underpowered if you want to play games
- 32 MB video memory is poor.
- 6 cell battery- about 1.5 hours of life. Need an 8 cell or higher.
- No CDRW combo drive.

This Toshiba is actually a much better deal for $999 after rebate:

From Circuit City

Also, this HP Widescreen laptop is $849 after rebate and has a 15" widescreen:

Office Depot HP

Just thought I'd give an opinion...

The Toshiba has a 64 MB Radeon Mobility 7000. I think the 32MB Radeon 9000 would perform better.
The HP laptop uses a Celeron processor and is pretty big.

A 14" screen means the laptop is smaller and some people look for that.

these are laptop in totally different categories...

the 600m is a thin and light laptop whereas the ones you listed are all desktop replacements... the 600m is about 5lb including battery, the ones you listed are at least 7lb... and it is a centrino cpu which is a lot more powerful than same clocked P4s with 1 or 2mb cache.

please do your hw next time before posting...

The Centrino processor definitely makes this deal stand out. Getting a portable laptop with a Centrino processor with 512mb ram for sub-$1000 seems pretty hot to me. Upgrading laptop RAM runs you more than desktop RAM.
