I just got back from my local wal-mart. Confirmed the deal is still alive! On candy at least, got several boxes of Hot Tamales and Goobers.

Can anyone else confirm this deal? I don't wana go to my local Wal-mart and be told the deal is dead.

Confirmed, I took a pair of shorts and left my old beaten-up shorts there. The employees didn't stop me even though I had the tags sticking out.

Holy crap, I want some whoppers. last I checked, WM has a huge box of whoppers...

do you just carry it out? wouldn't the shoplifting sensors go on you?

It says they wont charge you, not that they wont bust you.

I love it when the beepers go off on you when you didnt steal anything

They start yelling at you to stop, but Ive never stolen anything so I never do 🙂

./.... oops, I left that screwdriver in my pocket, nm >)

Read carefully, it's a one-time only hot deal. You can take up to $25, but on your next visit if you take ANYTHING they will prosecute you

Low Prices.
Low Morals.
Low Wages.
Always.
Wal*Mart

At least they're not hipocritical about it. They don't have any morals, and they treat their workers like sh!t; in return, they expect their customers to have no morals and treat their workers like sh!t.

unless you're lucky enough not to get caught (say you take off the RFID or whatever makes the sensors go off...)

Is this not an open invitation to every redneck in america to test the limits of this new policy?

Or it could be part of some genius master plan to get all low-life scum shoplifters into their local Wal-Mart where they will have stepped up surveillance, and then indeed prosecute everyone they catch.

I could see some defendant telling the judge "But your Honor... they told the AP they wouldn't prosecute people like me!!"

That would be a fun idea, but pretty costly. Some would get away, and the price of processing all of those people stealing like $20 worth of stuff would be enormous, far more than the cost of the products they would have stolen

Yeah, if you don't get caught then it's like an unlimited pass to get stuff worth up to $25. The only bad part is that you have to take the stuff one by one.

Lots of trips to the car I guess. Is Wal-Mart trying to tell its customers that they need to exercise? All of that walking could do some good.

Bahaha, does this work online too or is it B&M only?

Doesn't work online, I checked 😛

The cost of paying some dude to pack up your stuff in a box and ship it would be too pricey to allow the deal to work online.

Me and My cousin were driving to Tahoe few summers ago. On the way, we stopped at a local privately owned grocery store to go to restroom and get some drinks/coffee. After paying for the drinks we were about to leave when the store owner (or was it manager) stopped us and told us that he has received a complaint that we have something in our pockets for which we have not paid for (in other words, he was accusing us for stealing)

This infuriated my cousin but we still kept our calm. he took my cousin to the restroom to search him and nothing found. Then he wanted to search me also. At that point, my cousin told the store owner that if nothing is also found in my trousers, then we both will make him strip at his store. We requested the store owner to call the local cops and have them search us also but he denied.

We really felt insulted (and annoyed) while at that store for no fault of ours. and this was after we left the guy ~$2 tip for ~$8 worth of drinks and chips.

This is why you need to be creative and rotate stores. Lift a pack of batteries from this store, box of condoms from another WM, etc, etc. Obviously you need to keep a list of stores and cross off any where you do get busted 😉😛

(and if you get busted, claim another employee planted the stolen goods on you while you were taking a pee in the restroom)

Funny how ATOT gets so worked up on someone buying an item knowing they're going to return it, while they have no problem stealing from walmart.
