I got a Sony DRU-500A at Best Buy last month- and had a 10% off holiday coupon.. I thought I was doing well because the units are hard to find...

I figured I couldn't pass up trying on the rebate that people have been doubting. The rebate was pulled from Sony's web site but it still exists around on the net.

Well, yesterday I got confirmation -- See below... It says my rebate is valid and will be processed.

Just a FYI to all you guys... Read the terms and conditions on the back- it has some note that it has to be POSTMARKED by the expiration date, and also has restrictions on where you can buy from.

Not true.

I called the rebate clearing house in FL. 1-866-856-3966 last week. And they stated it was valid.

It even showed back up on RebatesHQ site, a week before it ended.

I believe the rebate is fine as long as you bought the drive before 1-30-03. rebatehq.com still has a link for the rebate on their site.

Yes, but I sent in the original UPC code to the address : Sony $50 Offer * 02-50561 * P.O. Box 028509 * Miami, FL 33102-8509. And the rebate form says I can track the rebate online at : www.sonyrebates.com.

So did I sent the rebate to the right place, and can I track it on http://www.rebateshq.com? Sorry, just a little confused by what is right and was is not. Thanx Chris

Never mind I just found out the answer to my question. Rebateshq.com shows the address as :
Mail all of this to the following address:
Dept. # 02-50561-W
P.O. Box 028509
Miami, FL 33102-8509

And I mailed my rebate to : Sony $50 Offer * 02-50561 * P.O. Box 028509 * Miami, FL 33102-8509, so I should be okay. Thanx for all of the info. Hopefully I will get the $50 rebate within the next 8 weeks. Chris

I saw one guy on another forum that he sent in the UPC code only they came back and said "sorry it's invalid and please send us the right one" and he's like totally stuck.

so...I'd say YMMV just like ANY rebate...they can still f**k you up in almost any way.

It says to send the UPC and the serial one? Can someone tell me which one the serial one is, because nothing matches like in the example picture

If I remember correctly, it was the one right above the UPC code.
