I wrote to them and said that I wanted to return my 2 parallel ones for USB ones since they now have 2000+ of them in stock...

So they sent me an RMA for the two scanners and told me to place the order for the USB ones myself... BUT THE USB ONES HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE SITE SINCE YESTERDAY...

Bastards...

When I first read the thread, I thought that I read there were W2K drivers for the scanner. I guess now that it was for the LPT scanner and not the USB (which I did receive).

I was pretty pissed that there weren't any W2K drivers for the C3.

I did some hunting around under the FTP section of the website and I became pleasantly surprised.

"Windows 2000 driver for the following scanners only: SlimScan C3; SlimScan C6; ScanMaker X6 and X6EL; ScanMaker E3 and E6."

Click here for the directory listing.

Or click here to directly download the driver.

Here are the instructions.

Well, I'm psyched now that I have a (usable) scanner to give to my father as a Christmas gift.

:D

Thanks Mercenary for this deal.
Just got my 2 scanners, but sorry to say they were just as advertised, USB, so I won't get them for free...

300x600 is terrible, but for Christmas stocking stuffers they will do just fine. (just read what I typed, and it sounds bad. Give unto others the crap you wouldn't use?)

Just got my scanner in last night. Plugged in power and USB and it works. Looks new. The shipping box is the retail box itself. They just slap the UPS shipping info on it and send it off.

Test scan shows decent quality but it makes funny noises. I still think it's a good buy. Went back to buy more for stocking stuffers but link looks dead. :p

I was one who ordered the scanner awhile back under the pretense that it was USB but ended up with a parallel unit. I complained, and they told me to refuse shipment and send it back. I told them others were being credited and told to keep it. He told me that wasn't the case with me and I had better send it back.

Oh well. Every other time I've tried to buy form insight they've royally botched things up, too. I was getting 20 emails an hour from them for a few days because they screwed up. I gotta say I am going to refuse to do business with them any more if they keep this crap up.
