Geez that is a big rebate. Tax kills it for anyone in CA but... Good price for 8500 memory. Personally id rather have the ocz from outpost

I still have a DDR system!

If I want to run my DDR system with no overclocking (FSB=200MHz), I can use DDR400 (PC3200). So, if I want to run at 1:1 and I do not want to overclock, I use DDR400.

What is the equivalent of that in DDR2?

Wow have these memory prices started crashing after the spike they had during last winter.

yeah. no kidding. I paid $295 shipped for a 2gb ballistix tracer kit (ddr2 1000) in february. newegg is selling the 2gb ballistix tracer kit (ddr2 1066) for $144 (albeit, a hefty $75 rebate). huge price difference.

can't complain about Crucial MIRs at all, always got the checks in time. And I'm a happy racer with the tracer :)

there shouldnt be any problems mixing ballistix tracer DDR2 1000 with ballistix tracer DDR2 1066 right?

i'm thinking upping my system to 4gb.

Well 4gb is a waste anyways and I would also personally never mix and match memory. Probably works fine. You really wont know until you try it though.

Dakata, just saw a thread about mwave selling the pc-8000 set that you already have. Its 50 less upfront and 20 less AR than these if looking for the same set.

As for getting 4g, it's called getting ready for Vista. ;)

You should have no issue since you are mixing Ballistix stick(even though DDR1000 and 1066)...just realize you will likely need to run DDR 1000 5-5-5 vs faster speed to get the memory to run ok at 2.2v....

it is possible the DDR1000 will clock to 1066 at 2.2v(probably very likely given the history of how good the ram is from crucial)

Ram speed and latency overall adds little to overall performance..CPU speed is still the key..unless you want a high fsb DDR800 is good stuff(if ballistix it may even run DDR1000 without much of a sweat)

to get the ram to run at DDR800 or 1000 you will likely need ot use a divider in the bios ie 4:5 or 2:3
fsb to ram speed

Sounds like Intel just pushed the release of P35 (Bearlake) and DDR3 to May 9th! Maybe the reason for all the DDR2 crashes?
