This looks very...nice. Rebate looks like it is from creative labs too. I may have to jump on this and i wasn't really even looking for a soundcard, but i'm just using MOBO sound, so this could be nice. Thanks for the find.

ZipZoomFly is a very trustworthy site to purchase from. They have incredibly fast/cheap/free shipping, and really great prices on RAM (typically). I have bought from them before and would do so again.

Everything you described is correct except fast shipping. I live in California and bought an HDD, took 5 days to receive it for a 2-day free shipping whereas when I bought blank DVDs from Supermedia, also located in calif, I received it next day with ground service. Zipzoom fly is located in Los Angeles which is 30 miles away from where I live. I know it is not the shipping company, it is them taking too long to ship out the item. Supermedia, when you order before 2:30PM pacific time, shipped out the same day.

Hmmm, that is about the complete opposite in my case.
Every order from ZZF has been shipped out the same day or the business day after.
You only named one case pertaining to the slow shipment of the HDD.

Will I reap the benefits of this card if I only have a good 2.1 setup? Or would I need 5.1 speakers to appreciate it?

I'd be upgrading from a normal, cheap SB Live! card.

Ditto here... will we notice the difference?

How trusty is the rebate?

Norm

It will come but be prepare to wait a long time (3 - 4 months).

I received mine in about 2 months - 2.5 months.

If you guys are going to buy an Audigy 2 ZS, might as well pick up some some decent 5.1 speakers. You can find those for ~$50 and definitelly notice the surround sound.

In a 2.1 environment it's not going to be a huge difference, but even with a budget 5.1 setup you will smile from ear to ear.

For some reason, I'm unable to access ZipZoomFly from here in Israel. Comp-u-Plus has a similar deal here, though, for though who can't get to ZZF. ~$75 including shipping after rebate. Both rebates have the same mailing address, although they have different promo numbers, so this should be about equally reliable.

The rebate clearly states "offer valid only in the US and Puerto Rico".

How does this card compare to the new X-Fi series for gaming? I have an old SB Live! Value card, and I'm considering upgrading soon. Should I get this one, or get one of the new X-Fi series, like the XtremeMusic(or whatever it's called, the bottom end one)? Thanks.

Does this or any creative labs card have onboard connectors to connect to the front connectors on your case?

I'm pretty sure they don't. I believe that's why they have their own front case connector.
