5 bucks, with free shipping seems like an AWSOME deal!!! Am I missing something here? I did a Google search, and I see most places selling it for over $300!!!

It says OEM, and to ........., um,............ get it for a few hundred dollars discount seems pretty fishy. Either this is a VERY hot deal, ..............or there is some information I am missing here.

hmmm... I wounder how they can legally sell OEM software, when by license agreement OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) can be sold only with hardware which it came with. On top of that, refurbished.... Very very fishy and strange.

My wife has been running WP8 and a jump to 2002 for $5 was a very very good deal for her.
I can't be sure if a screw dropped in the box before I dumped the packing peanuts but well there was a screw in the box.
Either a screw I had on my desk fell into the box or there was one in there to begin with.
Maybe that was the included hardware. :p

The hardware deal depends largely on the individual software maker. A very small percentage of people use Corel Office making it not that expensive from the start. I would hardly think it be worth the $300 retail price. I pay $27 for OEM software from Corel for each piece. I would say Newegg just wanted to liquidate this. I would like to know how it became refurbished as the post title suggests?

They have a section titled "refurbished". It was listed there, at least until they sold out.

I guess either someone returned the software, or they just wanted to get rid of it like you said.
