Wow, looks like the E6700 is a good buy now... Isn't that multiplier unlocked?

I have no idea, I am going for this setup if everything goes well.

E4300 (Nicely OC'd)
1GB RAM (6400?)
Nvidia 7600GS (XFX from Buy.com)
Hauppage PVR150
As many HD's I can get

Hopefully MoBo prices will drop, allowing me to get a nice budget HTPC 🙂

No, the E6700 doesn't have the unlocked multiplier. Only the Core 2 extremes come with unlocked multipliers (X6800). The QX6700 quad core that hasn't hit the shelves yet might also have an unlocked multiplier.

The E6320 looks really good to me. The main problem with the E6300 is that even though it overclocks exteremely well, you have to buy the E6600 to get the 4MB cache. The 6320 solves that problem 🙂

Assuming it oc's just as well. They might start binning tighter or we could just have a monster on our hands.

good call dude- definitely!

Nice to see Core2Duo is becoming affordable.

What platform will the 800Mhz bus ones meant for? I think I was eying a barebone with a SiS662 chipset said supported Core2Duo, but only max 800Mhz FSB.

So will the 4400 and 4300 become the kings of overclocking. With 800 MHZ stock FSB a 4300 will run at 2.4 GHz at 1066 FSB leaving lots of headroom for faster FSB.
Wonder how the ''20s will overclock with the added cache.

40% price drop on a already winning situation. Intel is really set on gaining back the 5 yrs it has lost to AMD........

No. That would be under your arm.

LOL!

Wahoo for price drops. I'm all for the best bang for the buck be it a Celeron, an Athlon 64, or a Core 2 Duo/Core Duo.

 Good catch.

My thoughts as well. I have a E6400 right now and I considered that the sweet spot when I originally bought it. Looks like its younger brother the E6420 may take that crown.

BTW, harpy82, even though AMD had vastly superior cpus in the past Intel had never really lost to AMD when you compare market shares that is. Looking at the projection now, though, AMD higher ups must be sh!tting a brick. They've never really owned the market, now they're going to lose what little they have.

got your point . 🙂 but my main projection for AMD is price-performace ratio, overclockability and top winning. Not that much interested in market share....
