Why not go to circuitcity.com and see for yourself? It would have taken the same amount of time it took you to write that post.

Thanks, I ordered one. I'm taxable so I got dinged there but still a great deal.

I might be square but at least I'm not lazy. The point of posts are to help each other out. zeep's post was helpful, rpzero was not. The price is retail, but the availability is what makes it hot.

daid, once I make senior member maybe we can hang out sometime. That way you could just bask in my coolness on a daily basis, and maybe some would rub off on you.

I got one of these last summer for below retail ($450) ... it's really nice, but battery life is a bit on the pathetic side.

why don't peeps like the hp jornada? price is similar, and the screen is quite a bit brighter?! ipaq are popular, jornada's don't sell...any input would be cool. are these available at the b&M too?

Well, if you want to be technical, buying something for the MSRP isn't exactly a "hot deal."

Maybe I should have been more specific. These are a hot deal if you are in the market for one because they are in such short supply. Thus retail is alot better than paying inflated prices on *bay.

Sox- glad you managed to get one, i sure was

People buy the iPaqs because they are faster and lighter and more "featureful". :)

use a $40 off $200 coupon at Staples and the deal is HOT. There.

And dont ask where to find coupons. Take a look around this site.

I own a Jornada 548 as well as my best friend in med school. Another classmate who sits next to me has an Ipaq. The Ipaq is noticeable faster and has a better screen, and that silver casing gives it a bit of a 007 flare. The speaker is also louder and the battery life is decent when not playing MP3s.

The buttons, however, are not placed in the best location, the add on sleeve for CF cards is bulky. The Jornada is also much more rugidly built -standard HP quality which is awesome! I've had mine fall from a height of 5 feet twice and no scratches or even dents thanks to the metal casing. I doubt the Ipaq could handle such torture.

I wouldn't say the Jorndad isn't selling well. Over 15 people in my med school class now have it as opposed to 1 Ipaq. Compaq has/had problems with production due to quality control and problems with the nav buttons. Once again HP shows it's quality here. The Jornada is also significantly less nowadays thanks to high volume sales and a new faster model coming out.

The only reason warranting an Ipaq purchase is for it's brighter screen and speed.

Iwearnosox, you post was not particularly helpful either. During the time you took to repsond you could've easily posted the price also. But you didn't. You and the original poster could've saved everyone the time of looking for it at circuitcity.com by revealing the price.

And you could've saved yourself an extra reply if your first reply was not so unhelpful.

And there's nothing wrong with being lazy. That's what this forum is for, to help lazy people find hot deals.

staples got none of these left dude. no deal.
so far, CC looks to be the only ones who have em
also, since they are in high demand, you can only
buy one per order. sucks. but still in stock,
probably not for long tho.

You may be able to find the jornada 545 from OD for much less
Its only 16 megs, as compared to the 548 with 32.

Every time I read in this thread they're all gone, I go there and they have them advertised right on the front page. I even added one to my cart to see if maybe it was a kind of bait and switch, but it went into my cart as "Available." I already ordered one yesterday for my wife, but I'm tempted to get another (I want one too... waaa!).

FYI... I called COMPAQ this morning to find out about it's syncing compatibility with Windows 2000 because the website only mentions 95, 98 and NT. I was told it was fully compatible with Win2K. He also mentioned that "Circuit City somehow got a slew of them, but they'll go fast."
