Local Buffalo New york Blockbusters are offering a HOT deal on DVD rentals, dont know if it's across their entire chain or not, but if it is, get out there and jump on it, i'm sure you've all heard of the 30 day, 30 DVD rental thing for $19.99, well it just got better, for $7.99 a month you get 30 DVD rentals. that's 30 DVD's in 30 days for $8. And if any of you have Mypoints(dot com) accounts, you can get some more free blockbuster gift cards to get you a half year or more of free DVD rentals,

Too bad after doing that 19.99 deal for 30 rentals, I've seen just about every good DVD there is. And the next few months have hardly any good new ones coming out.

But for those who need to catch up on some movies, that would be a real hot deal. I'll have to check my local blockbuster sometime to see if it is a national deal.

Does this 19.99 deal for 30 DVDs on 30 days cover all titles including the new releases or is there a restriction? Anybody tried and knows?

I was in a BlockBuster the other night here in Seattle, and saw this deal. However, the lady behind the counter told me it was $30 for 30 rentals. Also:

- You basically have an "allowance" of thirty rentals, spread out over thirty days.

- You can only use one rental per day.

- If you don't use a day's rental, you lose it.

I politely declined on this deal ;). If you can find it for $8, though, it's a great deal.

From the Blockbuster website there are two promotions right now for 30 day periods. It is not clear on the Blockbuster website if the cheaper deal includes DVDs. Fine print states that prices may vary.

30 Favorite Rentals - 30 Days $7.99

30 DVDs - 30 Days $19.99

Also, is a Blockbuster Favorite rental a select group of movies? I'll have to stop by my Blockbuster this evening to find out.

The favorites are the 5 night non new release video rentals (there are some 5 night new release rentals, too). I don't think I have seen "Favorite" attached to any DVDs yet, so I believe this is VHS only.

Blockbuster treat all DVDs as new release. I had a coupon for "Favorite" and they said it can only be used on Video tapes (in the middle of the store) which are quite old.

The $7.99 is my local BB is for VHS Favorites, and no new releases. The DVD deal is $19.99, either for new releases or old movies.

The Favorites are the VHS tapes in the store that are older. I got into it with my local store becuase I tried to rent Cruel Intentions a few months ago and it was released on video almost a year ago and it still wasn't a "Favorite" yet. The Favorites are usually the older movies a few years old in the middle of the store and I think the shelf will have a Favorites sign on top of it and the tape cases will usually be blue (usually). If you want to watch a lot of older movies then it may be a good deal for you, but if you just rent on the weekends then it isn't a good deal since they are only $1.50 to rent those ones. The DVD $20 deal is ok, but you have to again rent more than just on the weekends because DVD's rent for $4 for new releases and $3.50 for older ones, so to get your money's worth you have to rent about 5 or 6 DVD's in a month. The rip off on DVD's is that some movies were just released on DVD, but have been out for a long time on VHS are still considered New Releases because they are new on DVD.
