HOT! Battlefield 1942 original for $20 at compusa

Yes game runs very well now! Of course your still limited by the 'blazing' speed of your local ISP's network.

Nice if true. They're probably clearing out space for the "Deluxe" edition which comes out next month.

Original game and Road to Rome.

I'd rather have the original and "Secrets", so I might go the CompUSA route.

Aharami: 1942 is a really fun game.
Its an FPS, but its a pretty unique one. Best way to check it out, get the demo. Google 1942 and goto EA's official site and get the demo. There's a demo of secret weaps, and I think one of 1942 and RTR (road to rome, 1st expansion).

Blah, if deluxe only has RTR and original, its not worth it. Plus it will probably be like $60. I was hoping for a package that contained all 3.

Anyway, this is a very hot deal. I have RTR ($15 from BB) and I was thinking of picking up Secret Weaps for $15 at BB this week. $20 for 1942 is about what I was wanting to pay, I was waiting for it to come down a bit.

Thanks for headsup pkananen.

Deluxe is $45 at gogamer. They really should have included SW as well for $60 or something. I got the jewel case edition of BF for $19.42 at gogamer shortly after it came out. I paid more for RtR. I did not plan to buy SW but then the $20 bestbuy deal came along. Cheap but legit Asian editions and such can always be had on eBay. Anyhoo, $20 for best FPS evar ain't bad.

And most servers to an excelent job of dropping people who cause excessive lag 🙂

Sorry 56kers, but I'm all for Internet Speed segregation 😉

I normally favor the single-player portions of FPS games - will I enjoy this game? I have broadband but most of my multiplayer experience is very short lived - average lifespan of about 20 seconds before I'm shot/blown-up/burnt/sniped etc.

Will BF1942 be the same, or is it easier to participate as a non-elite player?

I suck at it (too used to CS) in multiplayer, but it is still fun as all hell. And you can play single player, it's basically just playing with a bunch of bots. But you have the same objectives and stuff. Nice thing in this game is in the majority of the game setups, there is a respawn timer. And you'll continue to respawn when you die till the end of the round. That and the vehicles are my favorite part of the game. If CS had a respawn....I prolly wouldn't play any other online FPS at this point in time.

I'm part of the suck club too.

It has a pretty high survival curve. I just started playing the "Secrets" demo, and found you usually live longer as a sniper.

Newbies can have a lot of fun with this game. You can play the single player missions, but they're not very fun. However, they will get you accustomed to the maps, weapons, and vehicles. Then start off playing support roles as an engineer or medic in multiplayer. Watch how other people play, and you will have a lot of fun! Download the Wake demo and the new Secret Weapons demo. They are both excellent. In fact, both of those could keep you busy for months....

I don't believe it. I could see the Secret Weapons of WWII expansion being on sale sunday for $20, but I doubt the regular BF 1942 will be at this price.

Do you have any scans of this, pkananen?
