I look at this and get giddy. not because of the laptop in question, but because there are still people buying my used latitude Pentium3 laptops for like 300-500 bucks...

The warranty is a little (no pun) shocking. I have an older Latitude CP that is rock-solid (originally came with Win98) that could withstand a war. It's likely the slowest computer on the Internet (233mhz P1) but it works great for email and web browsing.

I haven't really seen a lot of their latest laptops. Are they still making tanks like they used to?

A nice price though, no doubt about it. Nice find OP!!

Add $19 for 1 year warranty. The only cheap dell laptop that had terrible quality was the 1000. The 1150 is fine.

you know....seeing as how these laptops are getting cheaper and cheaper every month....i don't see why one should purchase this laptop unless they are strapped for cash and really need a laptop. That said, this deal is warm.

Yes. I agree.. but not only laptops.. all electronic comodities get cheaper by the day.
But then, depends onyour requirement and need.

At $500, i would say that the deal is hot. You will not get 40GB + 512 mb laptops for $500. :)

Anyway this topic is debatable. ;-)

If you configure one now (since early yesterday afternoon) it says there are no rebates and no rebates show up on your order acknowledgement. I ordered one earlier and my acknowledgement says on it
"Mail- In Rebate $100 Mail In Rebate 100REB." It is my understanding, please correct me if someone knows diferently, that without that on the form, you aren't eligible for any rebate. The form itself doesn't have dates so the proof of eligibility is on the email you get (and the packing slip.) I hope I'm wrong.

I'm just curious, has anyone who bought a Dell laptop back in November with the $750 off $1500 coupon receive their rebate for the $49 shipping yet?

if i were anyone who bought this, get an extended warranty. 90-day warranty is an accident waiting to happen.

Was the rebate mentioned on your order acknowledgement email?
I believe the rebate was pulled about 2 hours before this was posted at Anandtech. :(

Dell rebate is different. Check your invoice. It should have aline that says something about rebate.
