i'm an audiofile and i've always found cables to be just so much hype. i have an expensive system, but for my speakers i drove to home depot and purchased a roll of heavy grade copper wire, number 16, i think. having listend to cables that cost thousands, i couldn't tell the difference. the average joe is better off spending a lot on the actual speaker and amplifier and saving on the cables. that said, if i had the time, i'd be doing something like they do on this web site. the cables are probably fine and NOT expensive. (though still pricey compared to home depot!)

This is interconnect cable not speaker cable.

If you don't realize the difference a high quality interconnect can make. Come over.

are there any online studies or reviews on the quality of speaker wire? i'm sure it makes a difference in sound quality, although i doubt i could tell. just curious...

hehe i can't wait till this thread get's locked because of an audiophile arguement. i personally love the ones that people argue which optical cable will give them the best digital signal because one is shielded and one is not. this will get ugly quick i have a feeling. anyway those prices are hella high for all of them IMHO and this deal is cold.

Ok, how do I order from you?
First, you must be a registered member of the HOME THEATER FORUM, AVS FORUM or HOME THEATER TALK and be at least semi-active. When you contact me, make sure to include your real name and your username on the forum.

*Note: I will allow an exception to the "HT Forum community" rule if you came upon my site via GOTAPEX.com. If you're not a member of those listed forums, and mention Gotapex in your email, you can take part in our cable group purchase anyway.

I use all Cobalt Cable IT is cheap for the quality that it is and is much better than monster cable. It also has very quick shipping, exccellent customer service, and a great warrenty. FREE SHIPPING on orders over $50 and there is a 10% off coupon on their site if you look under the ON SALE tab

I noticed a large difference in my system when i updated from home depot 12 gauge monster cable

This might be apples and oranges, but all of my cables for my bass rig (and soon all of my recording cables) come from Procables N Sound. Their prices are very reasonable and their cables are top notch and can take a beating.

You're not an "audiofile." Plug a good pair of speakers into a goertz m2, add a reasonable amp and I *guarantee* you'll hear a difference, and if you don't you're deaf. It's that dramatic.

Does anyone know of a single- or double-blind listening test using different qualities of interconnects? I would be interested in reading the results.

Well, retired Engineer from McIntosh don't believe in expensive cables. Highend cables are the biggest scam since bottled water.

For ME, as long as cable are in right gauge and have sufficent shielding, It's all good.

YOU of course are free to buy Black Mamba snake oil supa dupa kickass my d1ck is bigger than yours thick custom cables for $1000's a blow. Nobody's stopping ya, certainly not I.

I use partsexpress.com for all my cabling needs. They have some of the best cable without the overhead the brand names put on it.

These cables are nearly identical to Blue Jeans Cable which are good cable for the money. The materials used are high quality, Beldon and Canare which aren't really all that expensive IMO. I have seen cables go for way more than these so I don't think these are what you would consider overpriced. I have used Blue Jeans Cables and been very happy! I need to pick up a few more interconnects and these should be a good match, thanks OP!

Everything makes a difference. What you have your components stacked on, what wires you use, where u sit, size and shape of room, etc etc. I have noticed that most rooms are so horrible that it makes it very difficult to actually hear changes in the sound of the audio system. It is very easy to hear a difference that cables make in a correctly setup system and room. The digitial cable comparison is interesting too but I have done it and have found a difference as well. I hold a monthly audio club and everyone heard the difference between coax digital cables.

You cant deny that having lower inductive reactance and capacitance isnt better! Most people would agree that there are major differences between types of capacitors ... well if you are one of those people then you must also accept that cables make a major difference because cables are essentially a capacitor. A capacitor is an electrical component consisting of two conductors separated by a space that is often filled with an insulating material. This is precisely how shielded cables are constructed. Due to a cables capacitive reactance they resist the flow of current and better cables resist less.

Anyways, if anyone lives in the DFW area and would like to attend one of our audio clubs please feel free to contact me. Dont forget, some peoples hearing is just different AND everyones reference point for "good sound" is different. Listening and identifying audible differences takes time and effort. Audio is like any hobby it takes time to learn and compare things. I have many friends whose hobby is tricking out their cars. They trick them out and I never notice things like they do. Not becuse there is not a difference but just because I am not keen and aware of such things like they are. They tell me they just bought new headers or added a new turbo chip and they now have sqeezed 5HP more from the engine. Well I sure as heck didnt notice. And likewise, they sure as heck dont notice when I change a cable in my audio system. BUT I DO!

Ultimately its about having fun.

I'm a cheap audiophile and I build my own interconnects out of CAT5e cable. Sounds just as good or better than 'standard' mini-mini's. Probably because of the twisted pair and higher quality jacks.

I agree cables make the least difference, but setup right with the right components, I think it's noticable. Very very subtle though, and very over-hyped. One thing to always watch with audio retailers is how they turn up the volume very slightly when demoing expensive components. I read a study some time ago where people reported the same recording boosted by fractions of a DB as sounding "better." It makes subjective comparisons VERY hard.

I don't know if he'd welcome the influx of orders from AT (assuming there is one), since Vince is running just a one-man operation, and it's usually just to benefit members of the online HT & A/V forums. I would ask him if it's okay to post his site like this, since he's not a company nor a commercial offering...he's just doing this to supply good cables for cheap, since he's a good guy. I just don't want him to be overloaded on this next batch.

But other than that, the cables he makes are great, I've had a few made myself, and I'll probably be making more :)

audiophile: someone who likes audio, and actually goes out and listens to a lot of gear, some of it ridiculously expensive, with the goal of finding the best stuff that he can afford. like most things (analog) its the law of diminishing returns. but just as a kia doesn't drive the same as a lexus, cheaper components don't always sound the same as expensive ones.

i've done plenty of single blind tests, where you aren't told which component or set of speakers is connected of a competing pair; i expect most music enthusiasts have. the difference between a hundred fifty dollar bookshelf system and a krell/kef system is dramatic, even to someone who couldn't care less.

that said, the same single blind testing hasn't yielded much difference in either component interconnects or speaker cables. call me a snob or deaf, but i'm going with those that feel fancy cables and interconnects are the biggest scam since bottled water.

You are an "audiofile?" What kind of equipment do you run? What do you listen to?

Why do I suspect that Bose in going to mentioned in one of this guy's answers?
